Was there a body or anything found. If not, maybe Einecke buried the stuff himself. Either way It is such an amazing find. -

I can't read the first name but the last name definitely looks seems to be Einecke. If this is the case, the guy scored big time. -

Did you dig that. I have never seen a Golden Party Badge number that low before. Thanks for sharing. -
Thanks for the information. As for Hass' stuff, my collector buddy told me the following about all of the original grouping: in the 1960s, the Hass family gave the grouping up to Weitze or another private collector. It consisted of two uniforms (one with a sewn on DKiG and one with all of the metal badges )golden party badge, wehrpass, soldbuch, photos, mug, dog tag, a bunch of award documents, and enlistment document. Finally when it all came to weitze at some point the entire group was split up and went to the four winds. Kind of sad. I would love to find out what happened to him after the war because I am thinking since Hass had been a NSDAP golden member since 1933, he was probably put in a POW camp somewhere. Well if I find anything else, I will let you know. Thanks again

Yes, this is true. The original source of this article came into effect this past January across all services. The Navy and Marine Corps used to give a "V" device in two ways: 1) For a Combat Distinguishing Device, now like the "C" device; and 2) for actual Valor. The Navy and Marine Corps could actually get one on their NAMs (Navy Achievement Medal) also. That is why you see the current CJCS with a "V" on his Legion of Merit. He got it as a Regimental Commander for a Combat Achievement during the Invasion of Iraq, not for Valor. The USAF, would give out for Valor, but they also have some unit award that could get a V. The Army would only give out a "V" for VALOR ONLY and this would only go down to the Army Commendation Medal. (I have one of these). DoD did this to try to get all of the services on the same page with the "V" device. Hope this helps.

Can anyone provide me some information on what happened to this guy after WWII? I have done some extensive research on Hass, have units, awards, and some other stuff, but I cannot find anything on if he was captured, disappeared, or lived out his life. Any help would be appreciated. The last known rank was Hauptmann dR and it was either as Commander of 7th Pi BN or as a Kompanie Fuhrer (Commander) in 198th Pi BN. It ends there. Thanks

Gents I have a very nice EM Pionier Waffenrock that has everything original to the tunic minus the Collar tabs. If you have a matching set or know where I can find them, please direct me to the source or let me know. I am looking for the standard issue ones. I have checked most sites over the last year and spoke with friends, but no one seems to be able to find them. Any help would be appreciated. If I posted this int he wrong section, I apologize in advance.

There were a series of APB's awarded mainly to the 24th WSS Kartsjager Division. I dont have my book in front of me, but the numbers were really low. 8x Gold (and special variations), and a couple thousand in Silver and Bronze. Most APB's that you find now are fakes. If you find an authentic one you are looking between $2500 USD and up. I will never trash another man's treasure, but just from the picture that I see, having a Gold CCC (very rare) is something that I question, especially with that patina (looks too new). You really need to look at the liner, cuff title, and other things. There is a specific stitch patter to the cuff titles, but a big indicator that doesn't take long to establish is hitting it with a black light. If the white glows it is a repro. Hope this helps brother.

Looks like like 3D US Army, WWI Era

This is true, however, Campaign and Service Medals will always have a small Bronze Service Star Device (ie: National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Iraq and Afghanistan Campaign Medals) no matter what service. As for Joint Awards, like the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Commendation Medal, etc, will always use a Oakleaf Cluter no matter what service. This is one of the nicest Vietnam Era Ribbons bars that I have seen. Only thing missing from it is on the last Ribbon (1960 Streamer). This is normally the case, however, this is definitely a clerical error. It would rate a Bronze Service Star, however, if you would build or aquire a ribbon bar with his exact awards, I would put a OLC as his records states.

Use Pecards leather dressing. Use light coats and rub with finger in small areas. After each coat let sit for 24 hours. After it starts getting glossy let it sit for a week or so and let the leather suck all of it up. Boom it's done. Do not add polish or anything else. i just did this to a pair of mine. I was even able to save the original laces using this method. Also take a tooth brush with the pecards and get in the creases of the boots. Also do the inside of the boots. Finally put pecards in the soles to stop the hobnails from continuing to rust. Trust me this works and is the best method!!!
