It is getting quiet on this thread. Are you all on Ebay spotting the fakes 🙂 Where are all the nice German Navy Aviation items? Here is a small group of Fl.Mech.Ob.Gst. Rudolf Bornemann who served with SFS Chanak. This is the first document for the "Eiserne Halbmond" to a member of the German navy aviation service I ever seen. A small piece of paper but a gem for me.

Great pic Lew. Congratulation. It seems he was a Army soldier before he came to the Navy aviation. I have him as an Artillerie Matrose but didnt' know that he was an Army man. I miss the award for the EK2 for many persons on my database. I'm sure the most of them got the cross but I want a confirmation before I enter the information. Please send me a copy of the picture for my database without copyright. Regarding the second ribbon it is important to know where he came from. Unfortunately I don't have the place of birth for Anesorge. If he was a Saxon (Falkenau) than Friedrich-August-Medaille is likely. I belive that the location is "Holtenau" not "Falkenau". Anesorge was at the Stamm of I. SFA at Holtenau from Mar. - May 1918. But the picture was done later. KR Alex

As last post of this year, I want to post this nice MP. It belongs to Flugmechanikermaat Bernhard Friedrich Wilhelm Sobol From Jun. - Sep. 1915 at Flieger-Ersatz-Abteilung 6. Changed to the Navy on Oct. 1915 and served at SFS Holtenau. Mar. - Aug. 1916 with the Flieger-Abteilung Xanthi. This unit was a combined Army and Navy flying unit before the Army left Xanthi. jaba1914 replied to Nick's topic in Germany: Weimar Republic & Deutsche Freikorps
Hi bolewts58, the book sounds very interesting. Can you give some details. Who is the author? KR Alex -
Wwe often see a difference between introduction of an award and the first awards. it is not unusual. Regarding the Erinnerungsabzeichen it is normal that this was not awarded at the beginning. There is an award of the Erinnerungsabzeichen (Bavarian version) to Hptm. Lauterbach dated on 10. Dec. 1914. The Bavarian version was established 2 months later on March 1915
