I see. I bought them mainly because of the document to the Norwegian gold medal "til belønning for fortjenstlig virksomhet". Only 48 medals were awarded of that type!

Yes, that's exactly what I wrote. He made a book about Bulgaria. Sven is a Swedish name, the Norwegian form is Svein. Gjestvang was born in Norway and Even is a fairly common name in there. I don't know much about cyrillic, but I have always thought that S looked like a C in cyrillic. So Sven would be something like Свен? It is a very nice group of documents to a quite important person. Unfortunately there are three documents missing which the seller didn't have. They only had seven of the documents and as far as I know Gjestvang received ten medals/orders.

Even Gjestvang did many things in his life. He was mainly a business man in the paper industry but also imported cars as early as 1903! He was also general consul of Persia in Sweden which gave him the order of the Lion and the Sun. If the document states him as a writer it must be that he got the order for a book about Bulgaria that he apparently wrote in 1896. If the document say Sven it must be a spelling error. His name was Even.

Hello! I have in my collection a lapelbow and a miniature from a Swedish architect named Ludvig Peterson (1853-1931). He was as far as I have found the only Swede that received the Albrechtorder with crown. The other awards on the lapel bow is Order of the North star and Order of Vasa. Is it possible to find out when Ludvig received the order from Saxony? Does anybody know how many orders with crown that was awarded?

Hello! I am trying to make a list over numbers and names of the Volunteers cross / Frivilligkorset that was given by Förbundet Svenska Finlandsfrivilliga. The first cross, number 1 was awarded in 1955 and the highest number I know of is 1095 and that cross was awarded in 1979. Does any of you know of any numbers with corresponding names? Below is a picture of a cross belonging to Armémuseum in Stockholm. Number 299 was awarded to Bror Niper.

Unfortunate about the enamel damage. Otherwise it is a very nice piece. The price is a bit high but on the other hand it would be nice to have the original order that goes with the bar...

I agree. 800e is to much for a damaged piece. But you need to find one without any hallmarks. They started to hallmark Swedish orders and medals in 1914. And of course it needs be to the gold version. The gilt version was given to foreigners since 1926.

If it is of any help Poenaru was in the Romanian Navy. He is listed as major in 1905 and as commander in 1914. He received the order of the Sword in 1895.

I don't know about the context but I can give you some numbers. Grand commander - 4 Commander 1st class - 10 Commander 2nd class - 29 Knight 1st class - still working on the roll so unknown so far. Knight 2nd class - 2 It seems like alot of awards were made on April 17th 1885. I believe the Swedish king made a state visit to Romania then. IF your medalbar has a Order of the Sword it would probably be a Knight class, since the commander is a neck cross. I am working on the roll of recipients but it goes slowly. I have to many projects going. I made a quick look in the Swedish state calendar of 1914 and found 12 romanians with the Knight 1st class. I also cross checked the names in the Danish state calendar of 1914 and found the following with both Order of Sword and Dannebrogorden: Dimitrie Poenaru Constantin Manescu It is possible that I missed some or that the Dannebrogorden was awarded later. Or the ribbon is of something different than Swedish and Danish.

Could it be a Danish Dannebrogorden in last place? Or a Swedish Sword order in 8th place? The ribbon doesn't really look right for it... I know there were quite a lot of Romanians that got the Order of the Sword.

Here is a recent purchase. Not ID:able but still interesting with the Order of Vasa, Royal Patriotic society and four shooting medals.
