speedytop replied to Hauptmann's topic in Germany: Post 1945: Bundesrepublik & DDR
Hi Dan, you have to look for some more details, not only the pin. For example: 1 without the national coat of arms, reverse numbered 2 with the national coat of arms 3 with the national coat of arms, a small ring added 4 unhyphenated 5 hyphenated The medal in the center (post 149/150) is matching to your document from 1962. Look at your book: "Klaus H. Feder, Uta Feder, Auszeichnungen der Nationalen Volksarmee", page 91 - 94. Regards Uwe -

Hi Dan, Post 125: "I now have the Urkunde to go with this medal:" I'm sorry, that is not correct. The Urkunde is from 1962, the medal is from 1977 -1986 (34,7mm 1977-1983, 35mm from 1984 -1986) Looking at "Bartel, DDR-Spezialkatalog 1949-1990 Band I, Staatliche Auszeichnungen", you can find for "Treue Dienste NVA in Bronze" 6 different versions of the medal. That is a medal from 1962: Regards Uwe -

Hi Paul, post 4: "A very nice DDR(1977) published book" I do not believe that it is published in 1977. That is the book cover of the second edition 1983. The first edition is from 1980: Regards Uwe -

Hi Dan, "Is that device on the bottom normal?" Yes, it is. Here are 3 of the 4 variant pieces, awarded 1964 - 1985. Missing is the second; at the reverse a needle, but without the pins. Regards Uwe -
Hi Chris, I am a simply structured German, and I do not understand what Darrell with his statements would like to express. The badge ist post WWII, but I cannot date it. It could have been produced in the period from 1948 to 1952, may be still later. They were still sold many years later. I beg your pardon for my bad English. Regards Uwe

Hi Andy, are you sure, that you are talking (writing) about the same badge with DSA? 1966 it must be a DSB sports badge on the document, and not a DSA. Regards Uwe -

Hi, here are some seldom to be seen sports badges with DSA (Deutsches Sportabzeichen), in Bronze, Silber and Gold. Awarded 1948 - 1952 in North Rhein-Westphalia, Schleswig-Holstein (1949) and Hamburg (1949). Total awards 15,682. I don't know the figures for Silber and Gold, but the proportional distribution is estimated bronze 93%, silver 5% and gold 2%. Marked St. & L. Ges.Gesch. Regards Uwe

DDR My first DDR buys
speedytop replied to Grant Broadhurst's topic in Germany: Post 1945: Bundesrepublik & DDR
Hi Grant, I can show you nearly all the different pieces you need in a collection, but there are several different versions, enamellled, varnished, with annual figures and coated with "Plaste". And also mixed! In my collection is a bundle of documents and medals for a man with 7 documents for a "Kollektiv der sozialistischen Arbeit" and 3 documents for a "Aktivist der sozialistischen Arbeit" In the picture you can see the "Kollektiv der sozialistischen Arbeit" for 1 award (both left, upper only in 1966), for 2, 3, 4 and 5 awards, below on the right only in 1975, to wear without the medal. Regards Uwe -
