HI Laurentius, this is pretty easy to be answered. Both regents continued to award the Brunswick order Henry the Lion to the people of the duchy of Brunswick and the people of other states. They were regents with all rights and grand masters of the order of Henry the Lion. Princeregent Albrecht did one enhancement to the order, he invented the "Ehrenzeichen" honor medal of the order of Henry the Lion. Dukeregent Johann Albrecht did a complete work over of the classes of the Brunswick order. He invented the following classes: cross 1st class officers cross corss 4th class honor medal 2nd class medal for arts and science 1st, 2nd and 2nd class with crown Both men also invented new medals like the fire fighters medal during their regency. Albrecht was a knight of the black eagle before he was promoted prince regent, he also had the grand cross of the Henry the Lion before he became Princeregent. If he recieved other orders during his regentship I don't know, but I guess he did. Same counts to Dukeregent Johann Albrecht, he was grand cross of Henry the Lion and the mecklenburger orders! I am pretty sure he recieved other orders during his regentship from other states.

Thank you Laurentius for showing it. I love this bar. Maybe this prussian officer was in the X. Armeekorps which was stationed in Hannover. I guess that a major in the staff has to cordinate plans for attacks and defend and is taking care of replenishment, depending where he is doing his job. But I know that major could also be found pretty close to the front line, many were wounded or killed by hostile fire. I guess that staff officiers from colonel upwards were further off the front line.

true, but you can see that this badge has the letter "K" in it, so it is from Karl and should have had two crowns, this was the reason for me asking it. But Thank you for your clarification, my questions was not accurate enough.

Hello, a friend of mine owns this miniature of the pilots badge of Austro-Hungarien Empire. He showed it to me and asked why there is just one crown on this badge. The pilot badges from emporer Karl should have two crowns? Does anyone have any clue? To be honest I don't even know if this is a modern copy or not.

You are right, he recieved the knights cross 1st class in 1895 as major, so it was a typo from my side. But there is just one Egloffstein who ever recieved the KC1 of the HdL of Brunswick and he was the adjutant from the prince regent Albrecht von Preußen.

As he was the adjutant of Prince Albrecht of Prussia, who was the prince regent of Brunswick from 1885 on, he recieved the knights cross 1st class as major in the same year.

Well I hate to spoil the party, but I have shown the photos to 3 knowledgable collectors. the first is a collector of prussian awards, the second is specialized in Red eagles and the third has deep knowledge in jubilee devices for the red eagle and so on. All three of them responded in the same way, all three said that this cross is not an original or an awarded piece. To be honest I guees this was the message of komtur as well, he is very kind and has good manner, so I guess he didn't want to make his statement in a cruel way but instead a polite one, claiming that the scenario in which one person could get such an award is highly unplausibly.

I wonder why the swords on the ring have different colors to the ones through the middle. I guess that if this was originally awarded and handed out, then they should look alike don't they? The 60 looks a little bit strange to me, I have a friend who is deep into this, I will sent him photos and ask his opinion on this. Swords are often mounted on old orders to rise their value, so I am allways suspicious, but I am not an expert on RAO.

Hi interesting medal bar, but to be honest I am a little bit confused about this one! The prussian golden Military merit cross was only awarded to NCOs. The saxon Albrechtsorder with swords do hint towards an officer. How does that fit together? I have no clue. There shouldn't be that many saxonians who got the prussian golden mmc, so if I have the list of the saxionian regiments I can have a look in my lists, but as said first we need to find out how this combination could have happened. Chris do you want military medal bars or could it be civilian too?

well for sure he was on the front, the war merit cross from Braunschweig on the fighters ribbon was only awarded to people in the trenches facing the enemy. But true, interesting questions came up to mind.
