    1. I managed to scan it so here's a better picture of it
    2. I have modern books, and the modern books are expensive as you can read like the Hessenthal & Schreiber already for over 200 euro. I accidentaly came across old German collection books. Example: I saw on eBay a book from the sigaret producer: Waldorf Astoria, they had books and with every sigaret pack one got a card to put in the book, to stimulate the sale of their sigarets. The book tells stories about how Knight orders where created etc. it has al the German medals form the medieval ages up to 1926. The medals are divided in different groups such as, Knight orders, House orders, Verdienst medals, Kriegsmedals and for every German State. They show the name of the medals, states, when they where created etc.And a story for every type of medal(what's the use of verdienstmedals, kriegs medals, why where they created etc.). Very complete with pictures and all. So now I scout eBay for such books, they only cost about 20 euro+shipping ($26 + shipping). I figured out it is great to buy old books(not just about medals) from the 19th century up to the 1930's (the Waldorf one is 1970's), they are old so that's 1 advantage because they can be put in your collection with their age, the other one is that they contain a large deal of information with pictures and all. If I can, I'll show some pictures soon on how they look.
    3. Very nice addition to your collection Dave, and you didn't even have to hunt for it, it just landed at your door, I'd put it in a cage if I where you.....
    4. it indeed is an original Oldenburg Freidrich August kreuz zweiter klasse (war merit cross 2nd class), on a Lippe War merit cross ribbon, the ribbon is missing it's white borders as Solomon noticed.
    5. my scanner has broken down so I couldn't get a good picture of it, but I still have this one on my computer, hope you can see it well enough. It's an Imperial shooting lanyard from the period before WW1. I bought this one at a militaria shop in Leiden specialised in Imperial items(the only one in the Netherlands) I asked the seller, he said there are multiple models, the Imperial, the post-WW1 and the 1934 with swastika model and post-WW2 model, he said the last ones aren't as beautifull produced and they are made of silver-threads, the one I have is a tri-colore one, it has the red-white-black threads of Imperial Germany. As soon as I can make a scan I will post it.
    6. wow, great collection! I really like those movie props, especially that half blown soldier!
    7. I don't know the rules, but I do know that people received an award document giving them the right to where them. For example I have seen documents from a medal, a commemorative one for WW1, it said at the backside; If someone want's the medal one could buy it at certain jeweler shops for 0,60 , one on a spange for 1,20 and a box for it just for 0,45 extra(don't know the exact costs but they where low, just figurative numbers, just an example). So I think one could order it as long as they could prove they had the right document, but I still don't really know, only saw this at a commemorative medal so don't know how the rest would be, I am curious myself and wondered for long about this.
    8. I agree on that, personally I am totally against changing history by messing with medals, uniforms and such. He just asked me if I could ask here since he wants them displayed at an exebition. I myself am not really familiar with 1957 medals, so maybe you could answer the question if they are in the correct order?(he is persisitant of making a spange out of it so why not have it in the right order as they are going to be shown at an exebition). Personally I already told him it was unethical to make a Spange since it was not done by the man in question himself.
    9. Dear Chris, maybe off topic but can you tell more about the shooting lanyard, I have one on a Bavarian uniform, but don't know the history of it, when was it first awarded etc.I believe they are awarded for marksman shooting? or something like that, but even that I don't know for sure. Thanks in advance. kind regards, Roeland
    10. interesting, so it had to do with the fact that this freikorps took back control of the city of W?rzburg when the communist had seized power in Bavaria in 1919.
    11. Abzeichen f?r das k?nigl. bayer. 4. Infanterie-Regiment K?nig Wilhelm von W?rttemberg, Metz.
    12. Erinnerungsplakette des Freikorps W?rzburg just saw this one go for 356,66 euro.I know they are rare but why that high price, does it have anything to do with the king whom abdicated in 1919? Who can tell more about this one?
15. 14. here the medals from the Belgian General. still missing the important medals(but there is enough room in the huge 2m long frame), but I hope I can buy them soon when the relatives have found them. upper row from left to right: special decoration mutualiteiten model, Commemorative Medal of the 100th Anniversary of National Independence, belgian croix the guerre with lion and leaves, Grand Cross from the order of the crown, french croix de guerre with leaves, victory medal, WW2 commemorative medal. lower row, left to right:commemorative medal for the regime of King Albert I, WW1 commemorative medal with 8 bars(3 silver, 1 gold), fire cross, knight in the order of the crown with swords, knight in the order of Leopold II with swords, Yser medal, veteran cross.
    15. hello Naoki Mtsumoto, you have an impressive collection indeed. Can't wait to see more! That Iron cross on the left from the one with the black case makes me think though, looks brand new if you ask me, do you have a better picture of it, is it the unmarked one?
    16. Hello, I have a friend that collects 1957 medals and post war uniforms(but also WW2), I myself collect imperial Bavarian. He now has the uniform and medals from a german soldier. He wants to make a spange from the medal in order to put them on the uniform as a spange. He would like to know in which order these medals need to be, he thinks these: EK II 1939 KVK 2 klasse 1939 Ostmedaille Zoll Grenzschutz Orden Lebensrettungsorden He would like to know how one can put these on a spange.Maybe unethical to make new spanges but the medals are all from 1 person and he wants to put them on a uniform for display. If anybody has some ideas they are welcome. thanks in advance
    17. hello Gilles, thank you for your information, I'll sure be looking for that one! Any of these kind of badges are welcome in my collection!
    18. that is something I find somewhat strange, wounded by gas which is seen as done by the enemy, or shell shock which was seen as deserting and you could get shot for it.
    19. the wound badge is awarded to those wounded by gas,and it cleary states that every soldier that lost his health in the war while on military duty should receive a wound badge(so not just because of shooting or bombarding), I just wonder how many people survived when they breath the gas(immediate or later), therefore they are probably extremely rare and that's why you hardly see them. I don't know why your groups don't have a wound badge, have you looked up what they received(because maybe the badge and document where lost but it was noticed in government archive).
    20. the EK1 sure is clearly added, in my opinion quite special to see these kind of add ons, but to answer the question, as far as I can see it is the 1st, not sure though the shoulderboard is somewhat difficlut to see for me.
    21. that's one hell of a para hero you got there, ready to give his life...lucky for you he didn't have to. Really a nice rare object , always interesting to see them.
    22. do you have a closer up picture? is there a hersteller code on the ring? I kinda don't trust the edges, but can't tell why.
    23. as we are talking about Kempten, here one in my collection: Mitgliedabzeichen der Bayerischen Veteranen,Krieger und Kampfgen?ssen bund Kempten typ 1
    24. Luitpold Kannonier goblet. On front you can see Prinzregent Luitpold, on the back the Bvarian coat of arms/weapon/shield(don't know the term in English), on the sides are a Knight and noble lady. it also has text and marks/hersteller codes at the bottom, don't have a picture of it though.
    25. Everybody is doing it's part and together we get far. the legion d'honneur is the highest French award. For an impression:this is my 1870 knight medal.
