Hi again, Obras Nucleares 15 anos might exist (in stock) but was never awarded, the critaria was never met because the Nuclear plant shut down without being completed, the award was created on 12th March 1989 and on September 5th, 1992 Juragua building work was suspended. In October 1995 - January 1997 a restart of the programm was attempted. As for the Gold stars, Ochoa and Tamajo's Hero stars have been up for auction over the years. Unlike Soviet Gold stars the Cuban variations are at the most gold plated silver and are never numbered, many many more have been produced than have been issued or are ever likley to be to. Those for sale which can't be attributed to a recipient have gone missing from the stock i imagine Many questions still to be answered but not many years ago absolutley nothing was to be found on Cuban awards at all. Hi zaivars, Bit late, i seem to have missed your question, strange i think i should have been notified that there was a new post, oh well nvm. Yes that Far reverse is a wierd one, it's the only one to date that i have seen and it is in my humble Cuban collection. With regards collecting (Castro) Cuban awards, all seem to be availiable . Distinción "Constructor de Obras Nucleares" is harder to get and the Medalla "De la Emigración" not often seen, but they are there. Regards Eddie

Hi Linas. The style is very similar to that used by the Spanish Blue division (División Española de Voluntarios) on the eastern front in WWII, with the Heraldic insignia of the Spanish Army, maybe that area and the civil war is worth more research. Regards Eddie

No Medals for service in Korea were issued after 27th July 1954, the UN’s arbitrarily imposed cut-off date for the issuance of the United Nations Korea Medal apart from the below exceptions. The Military forces of the Netherlands were awarded the medal for service up to January 1st, 1955 and the militaries of Thailand and Sweden granted the award to July 27th, 1955. After the cease-fire, it was seen as unnecessary to keep BUNC up to the strength it had during the war and it was reduced to some 200 men on 30th December 1954. However, like other UN contingents it was viewed as necessary to maintain a presence and the last members of the unit finally left Korea on 15th June 1955. In my opinion these would also have the Korea bar if they served in Korea ( or in post #5 stated areas) from 27th June, 1950 to 27th July 1954. After this date there should be no offical awardings for Belgian troops. (27th July 1954 - 15th June 1955). Could the Medals without clasps be unissued examples? I say that because if you were eligiable for the Medal as such, you automatically met the reqirements for the clasp.
