    1. Looking at the quality, I would stick my neck out and say that it is a genuine example possibly made by Bertrand of Paris. attached is an image I have had for a while in my archives, unfortunately no longer remember from where, looks very similar style eagles regards Alex
    2. The pictures are very small to identify authenticity but as pavel says, I would guess that they are early eagles
    3. Question, because I'm puzzled, Isn't both the Cuban regime and it's leaders avowed communists and therefore by defintion Athiest? If so, why are they accepting religious orders from the partriach of the Holy Orthodox Russian church? Sounds like a bit of "Hedging your bets" just in case! or have I missed something? Or is the church now accepting Athiests into their fold? The Lord does seem to work in very mysterious ways regards Alex
    4. Need better pictures, any chance of making them larger? regards Alex
    5. But that's the point of the discussion, Official pieces issued by the Ottoman government were the unattractive painted pieces. Officers and those who preferred something better wore the more appealing german/Austrian versions, I am not aware of any of the enamelled versions being issued by Turkey, My Godet was described in the dealer's catalogue as an "Officer's" version, I have since learnt otherwise regards Alex
    6. I tend to agree, My own version of the star made by Godet may or may not be wartime, it is (Or was) a very nicely made piece of jewellery for wear by those German/Austrian recipients who felt the original Turkish "Pot-metal/Painted" piece did not go with their other bling, as such it should be realised that the only "Genuine" version of these IMHO are the Turkish issue ones, pretty or not. regards
    7. That's correct I was reffering to the first one posted, the second is a Godet. regards Alex
    8. Thanks, I fancy a go at this next! some research on uniforms required Regards Alex
    9. Thanks Robert, I tend to stick more to portraits at the moment, but am looking for more open scenes regards Alex Edit, just noticed this one got cropped somehow
    10. OK I know most are already bored with TR Colourisations but I couldn't resist these. I use these simple images to get a grasp of the more subtle ways of using colour. regards Alex \k edit because of the need to reduce to quality of the images for posting purposes, they look better in their original size
    11. Some nice bars there thanks for posting regards Alex
    12. reverse Godet
    13. Fantastic medal. Unfortunately maybe not Godet made. Attached is my Godet version unfortunately damaged, looks different. regards
    14. Thanks for the info. I will look out for the correct assembly as there is nothing more annoying knowing that the medal you have is assembled with the incorrect ribbon. regards Alex
    15. What the medal or just the ribbon and rosette? regards Alex
    16. Hi It's a gold version, and not oxidised. regards Alex
    17. Thanks for clearing that up. regards Alex
    18. just picking up on this thread, I've not noticed this ribbon on any other awards posted. Does anyone have any info as to why mine has 2 gold stripes?, It appears to contemporary with the medal. regards Alex K
    19. Just to add fuel to the fire, a comparison with a known original Pre 1945 original, photo taken from a wartime Signal magazine. Look similar to me. regards Alex
    20. I'm no expert but Maker Mark 20, C F Zimmermann Pforzheim, I believe that they were one of the official makers, But I'm sure I'll get shot down. regards Alex
    21. The centre medallion obverse and reverse certainly appears to be similar to known examples so I would say good
    22. Bought genuine Aircrew Europe star ?25.00, WWII EKII's ?10, 1st class ?25, WW1 EKII ?5 Pip Squeak and Wilfred group ?10 Aaaah those were the days regards Alex
    23. Leigh, Fantastic set of posters and a reminder of much troubled times, which I remember clearly on daily BBC news. Should be carefully preserved, as they will I'm sure become as valuable as other posters from years gone by. Very interesting in seeing them. regards
