    1. Can't find him on the LG for 1928-30 but hopefully the Naming on the Special Constabulary may be able to make the search somewhat easier Paul.
    2. Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve Decoration, can you confirm the date letter (the final date letter on the lower reverse. Once I have got the date year should be able to find him as the award would have been gazetted. Very nice group with both W War service and with a GV type 2 Special Constabulary Long Service (can you give me the naming on that is they usually give the Christian name(s) and will make it much easier to trace his service details. All the best, Paul
    3. If you can get it out of the case and illustrate the reverse I feel it is very likely that it will be identifiable Paul
    4. I have the box but not the star, box weighs 464 grams. Paul
    5. Egorka, Your research is mind boggling, you may feel like Sherlock but in your case it is not elementary. Paul
    6. Pieter, Just a thought but could it be there was a back log of LdH's from late 1813 early 1814 which had not, for very good reasons, been processed and therefore the 100 days figure of 6,000 may largely reflect awards made prior to the first abdication. Paul
    7. Dragomir, Thank you, longer ago than I thought, back in the days when I was still young and foolish and had seen little Serb material apart from the odd White Eagle or St. Sava and hopefully I would not fall for such a trick now (at least not until I had had a minimum of two bottles of rakija). With best wishes Paul
    8. Hashim, Very nice indeed, thank you for showing the reverse of the Sitara e Harb. Your grandfather had a long and distinguished career, do you have his service records? Paul
    9. Hashim, The Sitara e Harb is a very collectable medal as they are named and if you can find them to officers researchable. I am glad that your grandfather's medals are in good hands. All the best, Paul
    10. Jonas, While I regret the Turkish forces do not get the recognition they deserve. Recent works tend to redress the balance between the Thin Red Line and the Heavy Brigade and the Light Brigade tending to give the first two much more credit than formerly. Paul
    11. Nice Hashim, Either of the stars named or any other attribution. Paul
    12. The image on the coinage was changed last year and is similar to the Ebola medal. Paul
    13. The time it surfaced at Sotheby's was in the 1990's I will see if I can locate the catalogue in our storage area. Paul
    14. Maybe Nessie decided to go out to sea to do her bit for the war effort. Paul
    15. Radmilo, Especially like the award documents which in many cases are rarer than the awards. Paul
    16. Obviously bad Schnapps caused them to see a sea monster. Paul
    17. The second might be polish but the other two most certainly are not Paul
    18. Dragomir, I remember that group and the Yugoslav (at the time) owner who put it in. Sotheby's (certainly not the coin and medal department) did not contact Interpol, at the time it was company policy to avoid legal issues if at all possible (had we done it the Czech guy who was head of the legal Department at the time would have performed the most barbaric medieval punishments on us) . I suspect it was either the owner of the group or some collector with a grievance. Paul
    19. First is very similar to Imperial Germany but lacking the scroll on the crown, the Third is Prussia Paul
    20. Hashim, Nicely made for an unofficial piece, have to wait 10 years for the 150th Anniversary, maybe Pakistan will make something official to celebrate, he deserves it, without Jinnah there may not have been a Pakistan. Paul
    21. The KIng's and Queen's South Africa should be sold together as they are a pair. Paul
    22. I would suggest at best some re-ribboning has taken place. Paul
    23. I am afraid that in my opinion it looks a lot newer than it should be. Paul
    24. Solomon, well done you have shown how a web-site should be Paul
