    1. Wonderful Pioneer grouping! WOW! Who's signature is that on the certificate? Heinrici? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gotthard_Heinrici
    2. Thanks Ricky! These were never placed onto a tunic before. I think that they were from a stock pile that stayed with the unit as it went through it's reorganizations!
    3. That uniform borders on a National Treasure! AWESOME piece!
    4. The below pictured are a set of Sonderabteilung der Luftwaffe insignia that are in my collection. As you can see, there was a previous Roman numeral that was picked out and replaced with another signifying Luftgau XI. After a closer look, the removed number looks like it was the Roman number 7 (VII). After looking for a while on the net, I found that the Air War Districts(Luftgau) were not set in stone! The roots of Luftgau XI are as follow: Formed 1.4.36 in Hannover, initially known as Luftgau-Kommando Hannover. In 1.9.36 it was renamed verst?rkter Luftgau-Kommando Braunschweig. In 6.10.36, it was organized as Luftkreis-Kommando VII. (when the straps were first made). The unit was reformed 1.4.37 and returned to Hannover. In 12.10.37 it was renamed Luftgau-Kommando IX Finally, in 4.2.38 it was renamed Luftgau-Kommando XI(where the straps were updated). http://www.ww2.dk/ground/hq/lg9.htm I find little things like this fascinating. Please forgive my enthusiasm!
    5. Hello! I am sure that as the war progressed, anything conceivable was used.I have seen camo pieces used for parts of liners!
    6. It would be a fun thing to have in a collection! Just send someone to get it!
    7. I agree!! There is a lot of high level stuff in there. I would guess him to be a Col or higher! I would guess that the National Defense medals are for the Viet Nam/Desert Storm eras, as I do not see a Global War on Terror Service Medal.
    8. I cannot see them from my current computer. The firewall blocks image hosted attachments. I look forward to seeing them when I get home! :jumping:
    9. Ricardo, That is a beautiful medal! How many were awarded?
    10. Yep! That is my indirect point. It is a shame really, if it is a legit grouping. It is worthless as a group without the award documents(or DD214) to back it up. I am tempted to have my medals engraved...
    11. Thanks for the photos Harrier! I look forward to seeing the blow ups. The one of HG is very interesting. My first thought was that the black tabs where from the Pre LW days, but the HG photo proves otherwise. I hope to see some more detailed images when you get a chance1 Thank you again!
    12. I have not seen anything like this before. I would be interested in knowing the answer tot his question as well... I would think that such a member would get the KVK2(the Luftschutz medal was given for both merit/valor as well as LS, if I remember correctly).
