    1. I am proud to announce the newest board to my Luftwaffe collection. This rarity is for that of a Major in the military Judicial system. This is one of the two TSD waffenfarbes. Please note the construction. I believe that this board started off as a sew in type that was converted to the removable type. Notice the addition of the tongue to the back of the board! This is from a recent deal. The board is actually enroute(with that new lifesaving medal) as we speak!
    2. My God Gary! Very impressive!! Very high quality collection! Can we get a close up of the reserve tabs? Paul
    3. Thanks for the information Rick. This is what the seller said about the physical traits on the medal! It seems like a plated metal. "this version is the first on issued directly after they switched from the non wearable (the big one) to wearables - because of the writting of KOENIG and the 5 pointed star on the 1 o'clock position - during the period until 1918 these indications changed one or two times (but i'll need a little time for getting the small paper i wrote those infos down). i can not say anything about the material for sure - from the reverse it seems to be silver, but the front doesn't support it - no markings on the rim, and because of this its a spangenst?ck as posted on the wehrmacht-awards-forum thread is sold it (would guess, that the former owner flipped the medal - the head side was worn as reverse and so the silver finish wore off)" I am very excited about receiving this medal!
    4. Thanks for posting these pics!!! I am very impressed! It is a sad fact that these veterans are passing away in huge numbers(from all sides). I am glad that you had an opportunity to get to know him! Did he ever pass any stories on to you?
    5. Prussian Lifesaving Medal!! I do have several questions about this medal: 1. Are these just as rare as their TR counterparts? 2. When was this medal institutionalized? 3. Can anyone tell when this was was made(1800s, 1931, etc) Thank you for looking!
    6. Micha, That is one awesome bar! Thank you for posting it!! Is the first medal a long service medal?
    7. I think that the tabs are good... just a different manner of manufacturing! Your insignia collection is growing by leaps and bounds! Very nice stuff!! Paul
    8. Thank you for the clarification on the Medical Insignia. They sound like they can be an area of collecting on their own! Paul
    9. I need a Russian Federation version!!! Have you seen one of these on Ebay lately? Paul
    10. back... I am looking to get one from each of the Communist nations(or even post communist versions) that had them. I know only of the new Federal Russian version that is currently in use.
    11. Here is a family shot of my three... including the new arrival!!!
    12. Thanks for the info on the unique features of the medical boards of the period, Rick! Does anyone have a photo or scan of an Imperial "4" to post for comparison?
    13. Definately a doctor as I can see the staff under the serpant. I do not see how it will be possible to ID a unit based upon the details on his uniform... but I am new to this area. His Bavarian award is higher in precidence than his Prussian EK2. Could that mean that he was Bavarian?(again, still learning the basics here)
    14. Too funny! I have noticed a difference in our insignia. Mine ends with "...schutz" and yours ends with "...wacht". I wonder if there is any difference? The still mean pretty much the same... right? Paul
    15. Garth, Those are beautiful! Orange was not used again until 1943, for field police. I believe that Garth's boards and tabs are the rarest in the Luftwaffe series! Paul
    16. I dont know about the specific unit, but the insignia appears to be that of a medical officer! Paul
