    1. Going through some boxes and came across these! I have a bunch, if someone needs a single striped example.
    2. I was going through my DDR bins and came across the Fire Dept section. I noticed that the insignia between the Volunteer FD and the Regular FD varied in that the Volunteer FD had the carmine cheverons on the Russian Braid. I am interested in seeing what you all have in your collections from either the Regular Fire Dept or the Volunteer sides. I feel that the Volunteer FD insignia are very attractive. Did the two use the same collar tabs?
    3. That is some truely awesome militaria!! Thank you all for sharing. I am just packing up my stuff for a long storage due to my transfer next week. I came across these Early DDR Air Borne Litzen.
    4. Here are some more! Please post whatever medical insignia or uniforms you may have! 1. Medical Subdued Capt 2. Rear Services(Base waffenfarbe for medical) Feldwebel. 3. Medical Uffz attached to a Pioneer unit.
    5. Thanks Gordon! Does anyone else have any Civil Defense related items?
    6. Anyone else have any related items to share?
    7. anyone else have any rank items make in this fashion to show? Lets see them!! :)
    8. Thanks Lorenzo, The color of the base material is green. The scanner is having problems picking it up. It is the same color as the green uniform.
    9. Thanks Lorenzo!! I am very excited to get these!! Thank you again!
    10. That is some really nice and RARE insignia!! I think that you may be onto something... The colors do look remarkably different shades of brown. It is possible that they represent two variables in dye lots for the same nebenfarbe but the variation is very drastic. Very interesting and desirable to me!! Nice job!
    11. Another great photo. I dont know how you find these things in the volume that you do!
    12. I love the detail on the early insignia!! Congrats! :jumping:
    13. It looks like the emblem for the Popular Army... what do you think?
    14. Those are some wonderful items, Lorenzo. Your collection never fails to give me enjoyment! Thank you for taking the time to share these treasures with us! Also, congratulations with your Promotion to Host. I can think of few who deserve it more! Paul
    15. Spic and span! All off topic posts have been removed. I hate to see such an interesting topic destroyed.
    16. Nice job Lorenzo! Will, I hear you loud and clear. These days, everything is being reproduced... often with great skill. Unless an item comes directly from the source, it is quite impossible to REALLY know it's origin.
    17. The shoulder boards are sewn into the seam from inside of tunic(under the liner). I think that the sutures were placed through the braids, instead of inbetween. This would prevent the boards from coming out/fraying. Basically, the inner liner would be opened from around the top of the sleeve. The top of the garment sleeve seam would be opened as well. The board would be inserted and the tunic cloth would be folded around the board and sewn to the board, from inside the tunic. Once this is done, the inner liner would be closed.
    18. The Red Banner. I find it fascinating that this ORB is the highest award that he has! He is wearing more Soviet metal than American! I agree with Chris. I bet that these items found their place in the underwear drawer pretty quickly.
    19. I am thinking that he could have been attached to a Guards unit as an interpreter, as you mentioned. Can you post an image of the enlarged award?! :jumping:
    20. I have just received these items from a friend of mine, who was there a few years ago.
