    1. Very nice discovery! It should be: 4th year of the Taishō era (ndr: 1915), November 10th, a memento of the Enthronement ceremony I think on the 17th of that month, that is on the day of the banquet in the prefecture council palace, I received (ndr: this medal). In kanji (row by row): 大正四年十一月十日 御即位式紀念 今月十七日信、即 饗饌縣會議 事堂於賜
    2. Hello Andreas, could it be possible to see the reverse of your ORB? I thank you in advance...
    3. You are right Alex, the 34th RD was in the 15th Army in November 42, on the Far Eastern Front. I guess that what your documents should have said is 103rd Guards RR and 34th Guards RD (which were under the 28th Army in Nov 42 on the Stalingrad Front). But I guess that is an understandable error, after almost 40 years. As far as page 2 of the Award Citation, I just love these 80ies chains of command! signed by General Major Beznoshenko, Military Commissiar for the Moldavian SSR and then by the First Deputy CinC of the Troops of the Military District in which Burov lived. General Lieutenant Kirillov! Big wings Rajsobes: I'll give you a clue divide the word in raj (district) and sobes..
    4. Ok, I will have a guess on this even if I am not really "on the edge" regarding Tsarists uniforms! I see a little stripe on top so I'd say Gefreiter (Corporal) of the 3rd Auto-vehicles (The hemblem on the boards looks like this to me) Division or Brigade ?
    5. And I am curious, which Olive Oil did you use? Regular, Diluted, ExtraVergine?
    6. You just have to ask 43. Увольнение командного и начальствующего состава из кадров РККА производится по выслуге сроков действительной военной службы (глава 6 настоящего Положения) и по болезни, а также может быть произведено: а) за невозможностью использования в связи с сокращением штатов или реорганизацией; (http://www.rkka.ru/docs/all/p220935.htm) In few words... point "a" states that personell could be discharged due to the resizing of the Army or its Reorganization. A lot of soldiers have this on their Service Record.. It basically means.. once the was is over.. people were discharged.
    7. Name looks like Volokitin Grigorij Nikiforovich, Chief of the ... of a battalion of the Budapest (?) Order of Aleksander Nevskj Regiment of the MVD troops.. And yes, a Senior Lieutenant It is pretty small The doc looks authentic but there is no way to prove it belongs to the awards (unless of course, researching).. anyway thats a pretty sad example of how to create a "I researched my order but found nothing"
    8. Given the recent developments I comunicate that I am able to supply S/N based and Name/Booklet based Researches. Very fast (1 day -> 1 week usually), at lower prices and you get back nice color photos. You can contact me by PM.
    9. Marc, what to say! Super Fast and accurate!! Togliatti, was from 1927 till 1964 the leader of the Italian Communist party. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Palmiro_Togliatti) In 1935, under the name Ercole Ercoli, he was named member of the secretariat of the Comintern. Stalin asked him (he helped him getting rid of his "opposition" so he was a trustee) to lead the Cominform when the Comintern dissolved but he then refused. In 1964 Togliatti died in Yalta (on vacation) and hence the city Stavropol-na-Volge was renamed to Togliatti (Togliatti Grad). There the very famous Ladas were produced. So the ball to Marc!
    10. So here it is! Italian/Soviet related question!! I was a really important Italian political figure. Stalin liked me a lot and even proposed me an important political position. And I also had a city in USSR named after me! Who Am I? Which position did Stalin offer me? What's the city? What was done in this city that was really famous? Good Luck!
    11. Nice question!! The Central Committee of the Soviet Union Communist Party and the Ministry Council of USSR singed an order on cosmonaut training in May 1959. S.P. Korolev proposed: For that kind of business we need experienced pilots, first of all, jet-fighters pilots. A jet fighter pilot is a required universal person. He flies a single-seat, high-speed jet in the stratosphere. He is a pilot, a navigator, a radio operator, a flight engineer and ? 3461 jet fighters pilots aged up to 35, applied for cosmonaut candidates, were considered during the first selection. Only 347 were invited for the initial interview. After the interview and medical examination 206 pilots were allowed for the further medical examination at The Central Air Force Scientific and Research hospital from October 1959 to April 1960. Then out of 206 pilots admitted to the Central Hospital 72 pilots refused from passing next medical examination, 105 pilots did not pass it because of health problems. Later, out of 29 pilots who succeed in all the medical tests only 20 people were selected and enrolled as first cosmonaut-students. [...] The first group of six cosmonauts (they were Yu. A. Gagarin, G.S. Titov, G.G. Nelubov, A.G Nikolaev, P.R. Popovich, V.F. Bykovsky) took their tests on readiness to fly the Vostok space vehicle on January 17 and 18,1961. So.. out of these 6: Gagarin was on Vostok 1 Titov was on Vostok 2 Nikolaev was on Vostok 3 Popovich was on Vostok 4 Bykovsky was on Vostok 5 Tereshkova was on Vostok 6 Poor guy Nelubov was arrested in 63 for being drunk and hence was kicked out of the program and hence didn't end up going in space! So Nelubov is our man!
    12. Everybody at the "traktir" to celebrate.. Dan's victory! Congratualtions! ;)
    13. Read the "clues" carefully, with 'o' it helps working the land... traktor With an 'i' it drinks up people's money, ....? This has 2 answers, from which one is traktor already! What is the other one?
    14. Grea Dan! Part 2 is super correct, but you miss half of part 1!! traktor is one answer.. but it could also be? Hint: it is very similar!
