    9. there actually some nice paper envelopes for EK 2's. the one in The Iron Time is actually in my possession. i've not seen another, so i suspect they were rather uncommon. joe

    12. these are so powerful in their simplicity.... a piece of paper... a life... my granny (from keswick) had one on her wall for many years for her older brother Georgie; LT GEORGE BOTT Killed near Loos 1917 it left quite an impression when i first saw it at age 7 or 8. and the faraway look in her eyes when she said "he was such a sweet young man....". and that probably 45 years after he died... joe

    14. christophe! that's him! i met him in 2000. a very kind man,and interested in the children i was escorting. (Raleigh Boy Choir - we sang in the cathedral at Rouen and at Notre Dame cathedral.) do you know anything about his WW2 exploits? and the ordre national du merite'?? merci beaucoup,mon ami!! joe
    15. that was his last name. i met him at amiens, where he was the curator of the "armistice train" of WW1/WW2 fame. also where my grandfather was a batalion surgeon in 1917/18. thanks, christophe! joe
