    1. The Germans were never consistent in following statutes regarding decorations. And many were thrifty and didn't want to pay to update their medal bars.
    2. You're right Rick, the case is for an AO1, and I'm not convinced about the medal either. And everything about that EK set is fake, wrong and annoying.
    3. You bring up a good point, did those who died much later from wounds or whatnot become KIA statistics and thus qualify the next-of-kin for this award?
    4. Thanks for the clarification. I saw a lecture many years ago by, I believe, the nephew of this guy, who quit his job at the UN in protest over the actions of Madeleine Albright.
    5. Hi Richard, If you could provide a detailed image of pages 10 and 11, that would be great. Looks like this guy was released from service and given a pension, not sure why. The Widow's Cross is also a bit of a mystery. Regarding awards, he received 'Keine', or none.
    6. It's possible, but keep in mind that this award in particular has been heavily faked in recent years. Hopefully one of our Oldenburg specialists can chime in.
    7. Thanks Lars, I was aware of the confusing timeline regarding this award. And an ID of this bar would be nice. It had an Ehrenlegion medal tacked on the end originally, so this guy was apparently alive in the interwar period.
    8. This bar has the Reuss Civil Merit Cross 3rd Class on it. I'm assuming that this is a relatively scarce award, as I've never seen another on a mounted group.
    9. Aha, I actually could use that set as a replacement for a Marine aviator set I have.
    10. I see what you mean about that St. Henry, what a piece. And I've been having dreams about that Black Eagle with brilliants.
    11. More outstanding material. I like the looks of that VOmS breast star, and I would be quite interested to know the weight of that St. Henry Medal to compare with my 1870 example.
    12. You're right Rick, I laughed at this one and the other, they are laughable attempts at Ordensbindung. In fact my crappy attempts look professional next to this garbage. Only value is in the parts.
    13. Bored? I just about fell off my chair here. I'm guessing that Russian PLM as Napoleonic era? And I think our friend Rudy would like to see these Helms.
    14. I needed to get my sunglasses out to view this thread. Now to the wayback machine to score some of these goodies for cheap.
    15. Mostly true, the exceptions being the Kingdom of Hannover and the Baden Merit Medal.
