Hello All. I have had the below Preussian Pilots badge for some time. I bought it as a miniature but in my opinion it is not. It measures 20 * 35 mm inclusive of the ring but without any chain links. It's simply too large to fit into any miniature group! It came with the small chain attached and assuming that it have originally been there it could indicate that it have at one time been used as a pendant to a key-ring or similar. But the details tells me it's not just a "key-ring pendant". It's quite worn, have at one time been silvered although most have disappeared. I'm not sure of what the base metal is. Any ideas of what this have been used for? Any information is appreciated. Regards, Lars

... an interesting badge. Last time it appeared on an international auction was at Andreas Thies' 29th auction where it was carefully described as "Stiftsorden des Dom- oder Kollegiatstiftes zu Krakau" and was valued at 3000 euro. It was unsold! Through times it have appeared several times and it seems that the description originates from the 1970ies where it was listed in one of Graf Klenaus auction catalogues with an approximate description as above. But before you get excited I can reveal that it is Danish and masonic. It's the badge of a lodge called "The Chain" and I can probably find more info if needed. You see them from time to time on fleamarkets for $ 20-40. Regarding your tinsel Star I can add that a book was published in 2001 by Jan Ren? Good morning Jeff. What you have is a Danish masonic badge. Lodge of Saint Andrew (Sankt Andreas) - the letters CCD stands for "Cubus Christiani Decimi". http://www.ddfo.dk/kobenhavn/ccd/ will give you the background, although in Danish. The badge is not rare in any way and is often seen on fleamarkets etc., I've seen them for around 15-20 $ although I'm not really checking as they are of no interest to me. If you are a serious collector then you should have the proper reference material. If you are not a serious collector then why do you want to know who the bar may have belonged to!" "I don't believe that they purpose of this forum is have knowledge and information flow down a one way street." I collect miniatures only, the majority would be singles but I do have a few chains. Rick identitified one for me recently (although there were some insecurity about it) and for that I am GRATEFUL! I am one of the persons that don't have any rank lists and I will never buy one. But I would still be interested in adding a name to a chain if it is possible. To you this may be information flowing down a one way street, the lazy mans way or the cheap mans way. Admitted again, I will never own a rank list because I don't know how to handle it or more true, I don't have the patience. But the beauty of a forum like this is that we are anymonous and you don't really know who you are helping or how others have contributed or will contribute to our hobby? Did you knew that I was the editor of the Danish Orders & Medals Society for a period of 12 years or that I am beeing thanked in the foreword of at least 10 books (some of them may even be in your library)? My strength is NOT digging out information of an archive or reading rank lists but I have contributed to our hobby because my strength is that I can prepare a manuscript for the printers, I can structure a book or grant access to my library, collection or personnal archive and knowledge, directing an author to relevant collectors or whatever. Hmm, I believe that my point really is that you should acknowledge that we all have different weaknesses, strengths and interests - what could appear to be a one way communication when we ask for help could easily end up beeing a circular communication when a book or article is published although it may take some years before it pays off! Hello Eric. I agree that you have got a nice half-size badge (or is this what is often referred to as a "R?duction" in French?). The miniatures is smaller. Here you have two for camparison which I would both quote as miniatures. The smaller one is 11 mm * 18 mm and the larger is 14 * 25 mm. Congratulations with your badge, Lars

Hi Rick, thank you for the effort. To me it seems to be the 4th class as well after having consulted my specialized litterature of Schaumburg Lippe (basically the various Thies cataloques!). So as I understand your conclusion it could have been Franz Reuter, but as he apparently had a higher grade this could still be a mystery. The chain looks original to me, meaning I don't suspect that any Orders have been changed by a previous owner.

Gentlemen, I just wanted to share a miniature Godet chain that I particulary like. The Decorations isn't the rarest ones, but I just like the grouping. All Orders is silver gilted, but of a much better quality than mostly seen for these non gold items. Any info about an eventual receipient would be highly appreciated. Regards, Lars

Dear All. I have notished that alot of you have sharp brains and access to sources than I don't. I have had this miniature barrette for many years and have often wondered if it could be attributed as the Orders seems both unique and rare. There's a ... 1. Preussia: Balck Eagle Order 2. Preussia: Red Eagle Order 3. Bavaria: Order of Hubertus 4. Baden: Order of Fidelitas It's all gold with original ribbons wowen together. It's most likely from the first quarter of the 18th century. If anybody would be willing to spend his summer vacation it would be highly aprreciated. Regards, Lars
