    1. A trip to Bavaria... Kgl. Bayer. 8. Feldartillerie-Regiment Offiziers-Kasino Nuernburg
    2. Another Bavarian medal with very little "internet presence"; it's only been mentioned a couple times deep in a couple GMIC threads, usually talking about an 1870 or earlier bar or kette. From a Google search (dealer site): "The decoration was instituted by King Ludwig II on 25 August 1866 ‘as a commemoration of this year’s campaign, for all those who took part and whose efforts placed them in danger (‘zum Andenken an den Feldzug dieses Jahres für alle diejenigen, welche denselben mitgemacht und an seinen Strapazen und Gefahren teil genommen haben’). The decoration was awarded to those who fought in the Austro-Prussian war of 1866 in which Bavaria, like other south German states, was allied with Austria." A neat little cross in my opinion (need to find a ribbon).
    3. A good thread worth bumping with my single example of the Bayern Dienstauszeichnung 3. Klasse IX. Unfortunately, without ribbon.
    4. Here is the Luitpoldkreuz 40 Jahre im Staats- und Gemeindedienst that is in my collection. Maybe some of our German experts can add more info... Google doesn't turn up very much. This is the best I found from a Google search - a dealer site: "The Cross was instituted by Prince Regent Luitpold on 24 February 1911 in association with his 90th birthday on 12 March 1911 for all those who had completed forty years in loyal and honourable service to Court, State, Church or Local Government (‘für alle Personen die im Hof-, Staats-, Kirchen- oder Gemeindedienst vierzig Jahre treu und ehrenvoll gedienst haben’)." And a Google image of the ribbon:
    5. My MVK2X is on a bar in the Bavarian bar thread... So, here's my MVK1XKr Comments as always welcome, especially ID of maker. (My new Epson was happy to do Bavaria first )
    6. A happy Unteroffizier from an unknown regiment and his bride.
    7. Here's an interesting Unteroffizier with his new EK2. He has "49" on his shoulder straps, but the card has the stempel of Pruessisches Landwehr-Fußartillerie-Bataillon Nr. 3 + Garde Reserve Div. Notice the French kepi on the edge of the well.
    8. I was hoping for this... Or maybe this... See, what I mean when I say, "Never trust what Chris says until you see the goods."
    9. Possibly a Mountain unit... Oh, that would be good. Possibly Mountain artillery...would be great!
    10. It's never simple is it? Once the actual photos arrive, I can do my own scan and try to bring up the collars and qualification badges for further identification. Iver, do you have a guess now as to branch of the group photo?
    11. One of the nicer trenches early in the war. Cleaned up for the Kronprinz's visit.
    12. Chris will love this one!
    13. I was just looking online for Imperial German decoration abbreviations... No need to look further than GMIC. Bumping this thread. Mods should consider pinning it.
    14. Thanks, Andreas, appreciate the info. I guessed correctly concerning the Leser based on your MVK thread!
    15. It's difficult to find a photo of this gun on the internet; there are just a couple. Unfortunately, the carriage is hidden, but the trunnions give it's identity away... These German gunners had their picture taken at Juterbog, Fussartillerie SchiessShule with a schwere 12cm Kanone M1880 (12cm sK M80)
    16. Another artist depiction of "Artillerie in Nahkampf". Curiously, this is "feldartillerie" with a 7.7cm FK 96 n/A, but sent by a kanonier in Reserve Fußartillerie-Regiment Nr. 4 Interesting, this is the only "advertising" card I've seen... Underberg Bitterlikor
    17. This is an interesting color card... "gelaufen" by a kanonier in Reserve Fußartillerie-Regiment Nr. 17
    18. Another 15cm sFH 02 ... card marked on front Reserve Fußartillerie-Regiment Nr. 3
    19. Here are four cards sent by the same Kanonier in Reserve Fußartillerie-Regiment Nr. 2 to his wife back home in Hameln. Interesting that he always chose bombed out villages...
    20. Finally with an Epson scanner I can add the "best" German Imperial bar in my collection... A twin to Ulsterman's in Post #44
