    1. Hello Very, very nice crosses. Congratulations on some really good finds. Now what's the address for this fea market..................
    2. Hello I have no idea if this is a Rothe & Neffe EK, but whoever made it knew how to make nice pieces
    3. Hello I don't see why a WW1 EK couldn't be awarded posthumous. If the person concerned was killed whilst carrying out the act for which an EK would be awarded then why wouldn't they award it. The final gesture to the fallen hero, and a good moral booster and propaganda tool. Just my thoughts on it.
    4. Hello Jan Very nice crosses Is the pin on the second cross brass ?
    5. Hello The cross in question, as has already been pointed out, is a fake. What I'd be interested to know is who the dealer is that is peddling this rubbish.
    6. Hello Nice Zimmerman EK. My only concern with the black discolouration would be is it damaging the cross, as in if it is some sort of reaction in the lacqeur, could it be eating into the metal ? If it isn't then fine, leave it as it is, but if is then a cleaning might be in order to save it. This is only an observation by the way, a passing thought, not a statement of fact.
    7. Hello Bill If you hadn't put any text in about this cross except 'what do you think this is', my reply would be that it's a wide frame 24.
    8. Hello Thanks to all for their replies and the pictures of some splendid EK2s - and bows ! Whether a ladies bow or wedding bow who really knows. Mine was described as a ladies bow, but equally it could have been a wedding bow or possibly even for some other occasion. Either way mine, and the others shown here, look really nice. Thanks for sharing yours as well.
    9. Hello Thanks to all for their positive responses. I agree, the Luftwaffe badges and awards are some of the best Third Reich items around. Mind you, after seeing the cost of some of the Luftwaffe stuff, my wife is trying to steer me back towards WW1 EK1s and 2s !!
    10. Hello John Thanks for posting the other pictures. From what I can see in the photos this looks like an original Godet to me. As for selling it, why not place it in 'The Sale Room' in the 'Sales & Wanted Items' forum on this site.
    11. Hello I've just received this WW1 EK2. Standard three piece construction, magnetic core and the core 'rattles' as it is slightly loose in the frames. The ribbon done as a bow is, or so I'm informed, known as a 'ladies bow', presumably to allow a wife, sweethart or possibly even a widow to wear their partners EK. Either way I like it and I think the EK itself is in excellent condition. I hope you like it as well. As always, any comments or observations warmly welcomed.
    12. Close in of maker mark, (sorry it's blurred but the best I could with my loop and camera !!)
    13. Hello I've just recieved this early Junckers marked Luftwaffe pilots badge. The scans of it just don't do it justice. In the hand it is really, really nice. I've given it good examination and as far as I can tell it's ok and original. However this is the first one of these that I have purchased, and although I have read up on these, both here in the forums and in reference books, your comments and observations will warmly welcomed. Oh, the blue thing in the scans is a plastic 'security / ID' tag that the dealer has put on it. Many thanks.
    14. Hello Gordon A book on the 1914 Iron Crosses ? Any idea when this one might be ready / published ?
    15. Hello Welcome to the forum. The cross certainly looks promising. To be certain about it, could you post some closer in scans or photos of the front and rear of the cross, both with the pin up, (as in your current shot), and closed. Please ensure the pictures are head on and not at an angle. A close up of the maker mark would help as well.
    16. Hello The cross looks like an original to me. Apparently, or so I am led to believe, 'KO' was the mark used on the offical award pieces - KO being the governments supplier. Unfortunately I can't remember what 'KO' stands for.
    17. Hello Joe, a very nice original cross. Here is my vaulted EK1. It is marked '800' on the pin and carries no other markings. The catch is a roundwire type. The crown looks the same as that shown by Mike K as being the square type, whilst the date looks like the '800' date again shown by Mike K. The pin width measures 2.47mm. So is this a square type ? Or yet another variation ?
    18. Hello Very nice Grant Regretably I don't have any 57 medal bars as yet, but looking at these I feel this gap in my collection will be rectified soon !! Thanks for showing them.
