    1. One mention: http://gmic.co.uk/index.php/topic/5087-khalkin-gol-1939/page__st__120__p__381603__hl__miniature__fromsearch__1#entry381603 But yesterday I visited the Kassel fair. A bunch of dealers with a few Mongolian items (nothing special... aside from the insane prices). Also one dealer almost exclusively focused on Mongolian (aside from the antique christmas tree decorations depicting uncle Adolf...). He had something very interesting: a high quality "miniature" of order of red banner... at least, that would be the best way to describe it. On a tiny red enamel badge. Anybody else seen something like this before?
    2. Had this badge in my hand at the Kassel fair yesterday. Wow, that is a HUGE badge! And expensive!
    3. I'm not a uniform collector so my attention was grabbed by something else: beautiful hero award Artan! :jumping:
    4. Nr 37 up for auction at thenewyorksale.com in January... imagine if you could have been a fly on the wall throughout the life of that award... must have been an interesting journey from the mint in Russia to Mongolia and eventually an auction in New York.
    5. And again more from Jamyan - for a couple of these I have the documents. It's from a reliable source so am pretty confident that these all belong to Jamyan. Included here are - among others: - Badge of the 50th anniversary of Mongolian Prosecutor's Organisation (I have the document for this); it's the bottom left award - Medal of Combat Brotherhood of East Germany (I recall being offered the document for this when I originally bought the "core" of the group but regretfully it was at an insane price so I did not buy it... sad to see that medals/doc's are being split up) - Socialist Bulgaria Centenary Medal of Georgi Dimitrov Can somebody help me: bottom row, second from left - Master of...? Bottom right (with 50 on it) might have by accident gotten caught up in this group and not belong to Jamyan - have to check. Really need to get the entire set with documents out to start matching and getting complete overview. Fingers crossed for potentially getting some of his documented higher end Mongolian awards in the coming months.
    6. And here an early documented one nr 94 Awarded to Jamsran in July 1937. The document has certainly not been safe in a drawer throughout its life. The photo of the recipient is removed. It appears that the writing on the booklet has been restored (perhaps the original inscription faded and the bearer himself restored the writing). The writing on the doc says: "Jamsran is awarded the Honorary badge of Ministry of Internal Affairs for successful participation in the struggle to suppress the anti-revolutionaries". The doc has the original stamp of the ministry of Internal affairs and date and number of the decree. http://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_11_2011/post-679-0-76882700-1322030711.jpghttp://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_11_2011/post-679-0-60920400-1322030723.jpg
    7. Hi Wlodek, yes I've seen it but already have that in my collection The few Albanian items I have missing are going to be a decades long hunt I suspect... but the hunt is part of the fun I rather like the Yugoslav National Hero Order as it reminds me quite a bit of the first version of the Albanian Hero (the one with Skanderbeg on it). The Hero of Labour is eye candy as well though... and the Yugoslav gold partisan start from a Kiev museum (?) awarded to Russian General, and... etc.
    8. Annoying how they are potentially breaking up groups in this auction. Anyway, although Yugoslav is not my focus area... I've also seen 2-3 items which may tempt me to bid:)
    9. The one I saw at a dealer was also engraved on the reverse. The name was largely obscured unfortunately due to somebody trying to scratch it away.
    10. These are very rare. Sofar, I've seen 3 in 6 years or so of collecting: - one in the war museum in Canberra Australia - one at a dealer in Germany (awarded to a Yugoslav woman), 4-5k euro - one was offered to me years ago, awarded to a mongolian, but i had no clue what the medal was for and ignored the offer (regret that for sure!)
    11. http://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_11_2011/post-679-0-63895500-1321005129.jpghttp://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_11_2011/post-679-0-80420000-1321005137.jpg Some pics of a younger Khan - or was he just participating in a paintball game?
    12. Just in, a documented (slight water damage) unnumbered Medal for Selflessness. The medal was awarded to Namdag Chimid on May 8, 1979. So, curious what he did in terms of saving a life or protecting the state property. More news to come (I hope...). http://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_11_2011/post-679-0-65436700-1320956037.jpghttp://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_11_2011/post-679-0-84832700-1320956046.jpg
    13. More Jamyan goodies arrive:) 1) Gold Medal for Service to the Motherland of Socialist Hungary 2) Medal of Organisation of International Radio and Television (OIRT) - with blue ribbon - see link to wikipedia below, rather interesting! http://en.wikipedia....on_Organisation 3) Honorary Badge of the Soviet Civil Defense (Jamyan's wearing this on one of the above pics, I may have the document somewhere else) 4) Badge of the 60th anniversary of Mongolian Trade Sector 5) Badge of the 65th anniversary of Mongolian People's Army 6) Badge of the Veteran of Revolutionary Struggle 7) Small Hungarian pin Also able to match two of Jamyans badges with doc's. Slowly but surely this is becoming a very large and increasingly (although still far from) complete group!
    14. An original photo of Jamyan (taken in 1980s) heading a meeting, just added to my collection. The photo also depicts Hero of MPR Gongor, a Soviet Marshal (or Army General) and a Soviet Colonel General (both HSU). Second to Jamyans right is also wearing a SB and Mongolian Red Banner order.
    15. And again, more badges most likely from Jamyan: 1) Labor Medal of Socialist Vietnam. Serial numbered 01213 2) Medal of 1500 Years to Bulgaria. 3) The Civil Defense Medal of Hungary (this is the second time this came in my possession, first time round it was in error as another badge belonged to the document I had for Jamyan) 4) Centenary Medal of Zhukov. 5) The badge of 30 Years to Socialist Bulgaria. 6) Honorary badge of the Mongolian Peace and Friendship committee. 7) The badge of 60th anniversary of Mongolian People's Court (for which I have the document) Possibly more to come I hope... http://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_10_2011/post-679-0-45183400-1319332101.jpghttp://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_10_2011/post-679-0-91339800-1319332140.jpg.
    16. http://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_10_2011/post-679-0-36035400-1319331016.jpghttp://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_10_2011/post-679-0-98658200-1319331027.jpg Just in, a lone nr 93 - no document unfortunately. Nothing new for this thread, but these badges don't pop up very often anymore so wanted post it anyway.
    17. Received some additional documents belonging to Jamyan (without the awards, for some, for now...): Mongolian: - Medal of 60 Years to Armed Forces of the MPR - Medal for Victory over Japan - Badge of the Excellent Border Guard nr 843 - Honorary Badge of the Mongolian Revolutionary and War Veteran's Committee (Jamyan headed this committee for several years) - Honorary Badge of the Mongolian Defense Auxiliary Society - Badge of the 50th anniversary of Mongolian Prosecutor's Organisation (green cover and inside scan shown as well) Bulgarian: - Medal of 40th anniversary of Socialist Bulgaria More to follow (eventually, i hope). I think sofar I've only been scratching the surface http://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_10_2011/post-679-0-40077900-1318179236.jpghttp://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_10_2011/post-679-0-83928200-1318179248.jpghttp://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_10_2011/post-679-0-32631000-1318179256.jpg
    18. Another photograph depicting Mongolian and Soviet Generals standing in front of the Government rotunda in July 1947. General Baldan is the second from the viewer's right (next to General Osor). Next to Baldan (third General from the left) is Lt. General J. Lhagvasuren. You can also clearly see Premier Choibalsan and President Bumtsend on the rotunda both wearing their awards. Would love to know more about the little kid there as well On the second one, General Baldan saluting at the Military parade at the 1946October Revolution celebration in Ulaanbaatar. Baldan is standing to the viewer's far left in his fall/spring uniform. Next to him is General Damdinkhuu, followed by General Osor, Minister for the Internal Affairs General Shagdarjav and his Deputy General Dorj. You can also see Secretary of the Central Committee of MPRP Tsedenbal and some Soviet diplomats on the rotunda. They all stand in front of the statue of Sukhbaatar in the Sukhbaatar square.
    19. Didn't buy anything, hardly any medals seen for sale. Only place I found was on a square in front of the entrance to the amphitheatre in Amman. Some men selling coins, paper money, etc. One of them had connections with collectors in Oman who had many soviet medals but couldn't arrange a meeting before my flight. Would recommend the Martyr's Memorial (aka Military Museum) for some good Jordanian militaria incl. late King Husseins medals.
    20. Cuban defence minister passed away - pic of him wearing one http://www.telegraaf.nl/buitenland/10483202/__Cubaanse_minister_overleden__.html?sn=binnenland,buitenland
