    1. By accident I purchased on today a very nice medalbar, where the mentioned medal in mounted...see scan :-)
    2. I did a small check already on yesterday, but it isn´t as easy as it looks like. There are no rolls for the Schaumburg award and there are different possibilities for the Hausorden award, e.g. 4th class, but also silver or golden merit cross. I would consider the following facts: The person was born after 1880, due to missing Centenar medal and active participation in WW 1. He was from the principal Lippe-Detmold. But the ribbon in the middle (white-red) drives me crazy...I would consider it as "Medaille für deutsche Volkspflege" from 1939, does anybody agree? If this is correct, the identification might get really difficult, because the Hausorden was awarded after 1918, too. But I don´t have these rolls. Regards Roman
    3. Nope, no Legion Condor...it´s Lippe-Detmold "Medaille auf den erstrittenen Thronanspruch 1905" (Lippe-Detmold Lawsuit medal 1905), quite rare medal (176 awards).
    4. Ok, a small hint might be necessary... Hermann Kellner II retired in December 1867, after the Lippische Füsiliere were integrated in the Prussian army (6. Westf. Infanterie-Regiment No. 55) in summer 1867. The riddle is related to the rewards, shown on the picture, which were awarded on the following dates: - order of the crown 3rd class with swords on 20th September 1866 - military merit medal on 30th March 1863 - long service cross for 25 years Lippe-Detmold on 19th April 1866 - war memorial medal 1866 Lippe-Detmold at the end of 1866 (exact date unknown)
    5. Sorry...no. Hermann Kellner II started his career in 1842 as volunteer. The earliest picture I have from Hermann Kellner II is from 1845-1849. Do you need a hint to solve the riddle?
    6. Hi David, very good question, the answer contains the solution of this small riddle. Hermann Kellner II became "Hauptmann und Kampanie-Chef" on 10th May 1859. On 15th August 1866 prince Leopold of Lippe-Detmold promoted him to "Major und Kommandeur "Unseres Kontingents" (=Fürstl. Lippisches Füsilier-Batallion). Kellner II took over this position from the Major and former Kommandeur Carl Rohdewald, who was killed on 10th July 1866 during the battle in Kissingen. Attached you see both promotion documents ("Patent zum Hauptmann" and "Patent zum Major"). Can you solve now the question related to his photo? 7. Hi gents, for those, who haven´t seen my thread in a German forum, I have a small riddle for you, which might be tricky to solve. The pictures below are showing Hermann Kellner II, "Major and Bataillonskommandeur of the Lippische Füsiliere". The picture was taken between 1866 and 1867. On his medalbar your can find the following awards: - Order of the Crown 3rd class with swords Prussia - Military merit medal (w/o swords) Lippe-Detmold - Long service cross for 25 years Lippe-Detmold (!!!) - war memorial medal 1866 Lippe-Detmold Kellner II wears on this picture an uniform from Lippe-Detmold. But what detail makes this picture so interesting? You probably need some of the given information to solve this small riddle. I hope you like it :-) Regards Roman ' alt='' class='ipsImage' width="550px" height="750px">"> ' alt='' class='ipsImage' width="550px" height="750px"> ' alt='' class='ipsImage' >
    8. I feel forced to show a snapshot, taken by my great grandfather on board of SMS Danzig....it is "Friedrichshafen F 33 ", somewhere in the Baltic Sea. Hope you like it... Best regards Roman
    9. Wow, thanks a lot for the information! But this means, the medalbar definitely does not belong to him ?! Hmmmmm....
    10. Hi gents, I would like to show you my newest purchase. Although the awards are quite typical for a Lippe soldier, the group is quite rare. The mechanic Fritz Neese from Bad Meinberg / Lippe was Flugzeugführer-Unteroffizier in the "Flieger-Abteilung A(rtillery) No. 238". There were only a very few soldiers from Lippe becoming a pilot in WW1 (most probably not more than ten), which makes this small group quite unique. So far I was not able to find any additional information on him, maybe somebody can help ? Best regards Roman
    11. Thanks for adding...I always try to keep it updated ;-) The combination of the medalbar rather looks strange...as already written I would expect a war merit cross, instead of the medal...or ...at least a red cross award for a medic serving at the front. Best regards Roman
    12. Hi gents, something is still missing...even on the pictures :-) He also got the honor cross for heroic deeds Lippe-Detmold, I had the original receipt in my hands during one of my visits at the archive in Detmold. Of course, it was a "complimentary" award, like the one for Wilhelm II. etc., maybe never worn. Best regards Roman
    13. And finally there were also some pictures of him (unfortunately without wearing the awards). The building is the "Postamt Hohenhausen-Lippe" (post-office in Hohenhausen-Lippe), Oberbracht is looking out of the window in the middle. Comments are always welcome :-) Best regards Roman
    14. And on 30th May 1915 he finally awarded the golden merit cross of the house-order Lippe-Detmold (Goldenes Verdienstkreuz zum Hausorden Lippe-Detmold), awarded 107 times. As well, all three related documents are existing, plus the statues of the house-order (version valid since 1913). The reason for the award was his retirement.
    15. On 18th May 1915 he recived as well the golden merit cross Prussia (Goldenes Verdienstkreuz Preussen), award-No. 5325.
    16. On 19th June 1906 he awarded the silver merit cross of the house-order Lippe-Detmold (Silbernes Verdienstkreuz zum Hausorden Lippe-Detmold), awarded 339 times. Attached you see the confirmation, the award notice and the award documents (with the signature of prince Leopold IV. Lippe-Detmold).
    17. Hi gents, I would liek to show you my latest purchase, which is a large group of documents (mainly related to genealogy). For me the most important documents were the following ones: Karl (Carl) Oberbracht was born 11 Feb. 1855 in Siebenhoefen (Lippe) and died 24 June 1919 in Detmold. In 1881 he became "Postgehilfe", in 1887 he became "Postassistent" and finally in 1904 he was promoted to a "Postsekretär".
    18. Hi Dave, thanks for the information..it seems that I have to go to the archive in order to look for the written suggestion for his award. Definitely he muswt have done a heroic deed. BR Roman
    19. Hi, I just got the small (incomplete) group direct from the family. Unfortunately not everything survived and some awards are missing (at least the IC 2nd class 1914). It belongs to Wachtmeister Firtz Kleinege(e)s, Haubitzen-Batterie Sturm-Batl. No.5 "Rohr" and consists of - Iron cross 1st class (marked KO) - Felddienst-Ehrenzeichen - Wounded badge in black - Cross for heroic deeds Lippe-Detmold with the award document (unfortunately in a poor condition). Kleinege(e)s received the Lippe-Detmold award on 11th June 1918. I promised the previous owner to find out, for what Kleinege(e)s received the Lippe-cross, but I need some help in advance. Where was the Sturm-Batl. No.5 Rohr between January and June 1918? There are some books about this quite famous unit..maybe Kleinege(e)s is mentioned in it??? Does anybody have some more details on this unit (beside what you can find on www)? Thanks in advance. BR Roman
    20. Arrrgh...this I didn´t know... But at least the type if shown, was only awarded 11 times (with Stempelschneider on it). BR Roman
