Ek2s hanging from barbed wire---I like it

Maybe PK and I should compare collections as we have similar tastes. My faverite group of EKs is 1914 EK1s. especialy screwbacks but I love them all. I also like 1870s but I work on a tight budget so I only have a couple. I have only 2 or 3 '39s and would care to add more but only if the right one were to come along. I have no real interest at all in '57s. I also love Imperial minis. Buttonholes and frack chains. I would actually rather have the miniature of some of the awards then the fullsized version. I do not care too much for award documents but I do like original sales catalogs from awards mfgs. I have a 1934 Godet, a 1939 S-L, and a 1895-1913? Paul Kust. I would like to get a near mint '39 that still has the frosting on it and some day maybe an RK but I would much rather have a 1870 EK1 or a 1813 EK1 than a 1939 RK. Interesting thread,Chris Greg

Don, IMO this one is fake. It is posted on WAF and George has posted a link to a thread that discusses a cross that was deemed to be fake and matches the on posted.

Here is a picture of the reverse side of Tony's EK2. I really like the look of the oak leaves on this one.

Here is a comparison between the the cross posted and one of my 1870 EK2s. Note how the beading at the very inner corners is a very close match. It is interesting that someone brought up WW2 quality. The 1870 EK2 that I compared it to is the size of a 1939 EK and is presumably a ww2 era museum copy. However it has also been called a "wideframe 1870"

Now thats a question ------- There seems to be a debate as to whether these little beauties are good or not. Officially there were supposed to be 969 of these awarded yet I know several members (includeing myself) that own one and they can be found on ebay fairly frequently. So did they make WAY more then they awarded or are there a boat load of fakes floating around????????? I personally hope that some turn out to be good but I know that at least one of our more knowledgable members believes them to be bad and he has spent alot of time and effort studying them.

Rich, I have always liked the way you display your daggers. Very impressive. If at some point while digging through your "pile" you happen across a pumpkin handled Heer dagger you don't known what to do with, It would have a nice home in Wisconsin.

Here is a Chinese dagger that I was given as a birthday gift back in the '70s. All I know about it is that it came from a antique store in Seatle. It is not military but it does appear to be old and is very ornate. Has anyone seen anything like this one?

Mine has been on order sence late November. I am sure it will be worth the wait.
