The Marine-Hitlerjugend had also many para-military training camps which were not all located at a sea shore: Marine-HJ Ausbildungslager, [Naval HJ training camp] at the Wörther See (in Kärnten, Austria); Reichsseesportschule I, named “Gorch Fock”, at Prieros South-East of berlin in Gebiet 2 (Mark Brandenburg); Reichsseesportschule II, at Seemos, near Friedrichshafen on the Bodensee at the Ferman-Austrian border, in the Gebiet 21 (Baden); Reichsseesportschule III, named “Admiral von Trotha”, tatZiegenort (Kreis Uckermünde) at the Stettiner Haf, in the Gebiet 5 (Pommern); Reichsseesportschule IV, at Neusiedl am See, in Lauenhain / Mittweida, in the Gebiet 16 (Sachsen).

A rare photo of a young man in uniform, a member of the Volksbund der Deutschen in Ungarn. The photo bears the stamp of a photographer in Sporon. On his cap he wears the German eagle with a "V", and the box shaped belt buckle shows an Army style eagle, but without the words.

Some of the more interesting photos which I received this past week. I was over the moon with this little gem. At first sight an uninteresting snap shot of a grumpy looking nurse with some service men and a boy. But it is not just any grumpy nurse, this is the famous Schwester Pia (born as Eleonore Mayr, an later named Eleonore Baur), the only woman to wear the Blood Order, and the Coburg badge, and the Golden Party Badge. I wrote an article about her in 2012 and she had a facinating "career" in the NSDAP. For her dubious moves in Dachau she was put on trial after the war. Photos of Schwester Pia are quite scarce.

It is hard to define what the military Railway system is. Regarding the German Army, there were specialized Railway troops, and their uniforms and typical uniforms are well described; is that what you want Chris? On the other hand there is the "hardware" of rails, locomotives, waggons, laying of tracks, repair jobs, etc. Railwais were essential for the rapid and efficient deployment but also for transportation and support of the front with food, ammunitions, troops, and materials. Most of these trains were run by civil (Reichsbahn) railways personnel, as the system was requisitioned by the military. But the security of the system was a purely military matter, which in Germany and the strategic lines of communications areas was mainly the duty of Landwehr units. No doubt that the running of armoured trains and heavy Railway artillery was a sole military matter. At the Western front, Brussels was a huge military and strategic complex of Railway traffic. Thanks guys, I have many more but from a later period. I found another pc-size photo of a British mobile field kitchen, however here the stove is rather more used as a prop for a rather large mixed bag of soldiers, perhaps members of a training course? We see badges of: Canadians, Middlesex Rgt, Glouchestershire Rgt., Wiltshire Regt., Cheshire Rgt., RE, etc... But, as usual, when you closely watch the idividuals, you will note interesting details, such as the moneybelt of the guy who holds the funnel.

Here is a member of the NS-Reichskriegerbund, wearing a double breasted tunic with full size medals, and he is no exception...
