    1. Oh....lovely bar! If it can be identified, even better. Thanks for sharing it, Wild Card! I do love those Mecklenburg crosses! Steve
    2. The lack of details to the griffins and the cipher does not give me a good feeling, in addition to the mixed combination for the two duchies. It does not compare favorably to my Wendish crown from Meck-Schwerin. I can post pics later if you like. Regards, Steve
    3. It was great to meet the 'other' Ricky. I'm glad to see you got something Imperial to go home with you (..besides Paul C.). Wish it could happen every year to have informal discussions at ol' chantilly....but I know that drive is tough. Until next time perhaps... Cheers, Steve
    4. The 8s and the 7s really show the difference, not only in their shapes but also the "chasing".
    5. This maker that uses the square punch, I refer to it as the quadrat maker or just "quadrat", however I'm not convinced they are the badge maker. We see other punch marks as well like stars. Nice badge Richard. I have one in my collection just like it without the mark too. The construction of the pin and hinge are very similar.
    6. I have to admit that the fakes are getting better! I would have been mislead by some of these! YIKES!!
    7. The Bavarian Observer is stunning with the cut-out crown! Super rare! One that I've searched for but to no avail.
    8. Beware! If the Sterlitz gives you a paper cut, it makes you crazy! Oh no...that comes from deciphering it!
    9. Paul, Nice bar with some great history! I'm happy to see it! I must have an imagination steeped in hues of grey. When you described it to me at the show, it looked nothing like this!!! I'm glad you got it! Cheers, Steve
    10. I'm glad this bastard of a thief was caught! But I'm sorry these events have broken your spirit for collecting medal bars......hopefully time will heal those wounds! Kindest Regards Steve
    11. Yes, nothing special...but I like to see these service ribbons. Thank you kindly Saschaw and SPM for helping me with the pics and info for Baden's NCO Long service. Steve BTW: Very nice Trap bar Gutemuh, especially with family ties.
    12. To ALL My latest addition, a Baden trap bar. The condition is alittle rough but I like it! Besides the early, beautiful Long Service maltese cross that Badeners used (Wild Card has shown one previously), what could be another choice for the long service position for this time frame (early 1900s)? Thanks, Steve
    13. Wild Card Have you ever seen a bar or picture of this award mounted? Thanks, Steve
    14. Beautiful bar! Stunning! Ultimately it is your choice, but I would keep the bar as is.....it has character....and could possibly tell a story as you explained with a father and son(s) additions. If altered, this would be lost. Could possibly the first position be the 1861 Coronation medal? but maybe he does not hold the rank for being there. also seems unlikely given the hanger system on the reverse. Steve
    15. Thank you Wildcard! That is a spectacular ribbon. This is the first time I've seen it...and I love it! I can now search for the correct piece of ribbon, which I'm sure will be no easy task. BTW, I prefer your thicker ?se over mine! Steve
    16. Can anyone show the correct ribbon for this medal? I have seen it with the pale blue Guelphic Order ribbon and the Langanzalsa ribbon as a loose medal but never mounted. Thanks, Steve
    17. A nice combination of Saxony and Hannover on a beautiful bar for a 1870/1866 veteran! I think this is a stunning bar...one of the best I've seen!
    18. Without having it in hand it's always more difficult to make an assessment, however I see nothing wrong with this badge.
    19. WOW! What an incredible amount of information and detective work. Thank you Rick! I can't believe you were able to cross reference back to the CRAZY Strelitz list to find dates for an award yet to be received. You are a BRAVE soul! I would have never found it! I owe you a hot chocolate for all your work! Thank you All! I feel like Charlie that got the Chocolate Factory...like I hit the lottery! My FIRST Identified bar! The bar (with a rare merit medal, albeit civil), plus a photograph of him wearing THE bar, his name, rank, unit, awards yet to come......from a German "state" which I adore....absolutely incredible! Now I feel great about the money spent (just hope the wife thinks so too.).
    20. Hardy, Thank you again....As I said, I'm horrible at rank....I wasn't even close! Must improve on that. Steve
