    1. Here's my addition just obtained from Noor. A fake but a nice one. I'd much prefer an original but I missed my shot many years back going for my October Revolution as it was a bit more affordable (with a stretch) at the time but I've yearned for one of these ever since. I hope to still be able to get an original some day but this will have to fill in for the time being. And I'm seriously considering having "Муляж" deeply engraved on the reverse as was suggested in another thread, although once it's in my hands it won't be going anywhere again... but better to be safe than have it cause problems down the road to someone else. Photos are Noor's and used with his kind permission.
    2. With many thanks to Noor I'm now the new owner of this bar. And as per his earlier request if anyone has or comes up with any information re: Oskar Schmidt, photos, WWII awards not shown on his 57 bar, wartime and/or postwar West German service... anything at all, please let me know or post here. I'd be deeply grateful. Also here's a shot of the reverse for reference: The photo is Noor's and used with his kind permission. Dan
    3. Hi all, Here's my latest from Noor. Pics are his and used with his kind permission (Many thanksTimo! ). It's supposedly named to Oskar Schmidt, an early volunteer to go to Spain with the Legion Condor. Seems he was cabin mate with Hajo Hermann on the steamer Usaramo on the voyage to Spain. I say "supposedly named" because we have no documentation on this as yet. The original seller on WAF stated in an email that he had purchased the bar, then the person he bought it from told him about it being named... the deal having already been done he felt there was no reason for him to lie about this. He said he has a list of members of the LC and found said individual listed there. I'm hoping to get a scan or copy of this at some point. But for now, I've not been able to find any reference to him on the internet... but I know that's not unusual. Needless to say if anyone has any additional information on said Oskar Schmidt please let me know. I got the bar for what it is and not so much for the fact that it might, or might not be named. If it is it's icing on the cake and would add much to it in my eyes... but if it turns out to be a tall tail I'm not that concerned.

    5. Hi all, Well, good to see confirmation, although she's a nice one. I'm the new owner (soon as it arrives in hand in about a week or thereabouts as I just worked a trade for several things with Noor today as well. I've wanted an OoF from day one, but sadly could never work one till it was too late and they went through the roof. I'll always be looking for a real one which I'd still much prefer at a reasonable price, but for now I'm very pleased with this one. And yes, I'll definitely strongly consider having that engraved on the award. What does it translate as exactly... fake or copy or replica or what? Very strange to have the original with that number and all the copies turn up with the same number. Fear not though... I plan to keep this one regardless and as I say will probably have that deeply engraved on the back and so solve the problem with this one at the very least. Dan
    6. Hi David, Wow... she's terrific! And a minty one at that!!!! Congrats on a great find and on finishing out your set! As you know I just finished mine out so I know we're both feeling the same way right now. It's so nice to finish off a set. May we never run out of sets to finish as I think it makes us live longer. She's a fine addition to your collection. Keep em' coming!!!! Dan
    7. If anyone happens to have more information on these individuals I'd love to learn more. Again any additional information, translations or comments are deeply appreciated! Dan
    8. And number four... alas the only one of the four sets without a photo of the recipient: SOVIET HONORARY DIPLOMA ID RUSSIAN DOCUMENT. USSR ID That Was Used In Soviet Union. ID Was awarded To Comrade (Mrs.) Olga Kirpichenko (Laureate Of Ukraine SSR State Prize). It Is Very Rare Diploma That Says Olga`s Portrait Will Be Set On Main Ukraine Glory Avenue!!!! As You Can See This DIPLOMA Established By Ukraine Presidium Of Ministers Of USSR & Soviet Working Union!!!!!! I'm wondering if those portraits are still there. If so... if it might be possible to eventually get a photo of the one to match this document set. If any of our members are ever there and would be willing to check and perhaps get such a photo I'd be deeply grateful.
    9. Number three: SOVIET HONORARY TITLE DIPLOMA ID RUSSIAN DOCUMENT. USSR Honorary Diploma ID That Was Used In Soviet Union. This Honorary Diploma Says That There Will Be Portrait Of The Recipient On Labour Glory Avenue! Diploma ID Was awarded From Ukraine SSR Supreme Ministry & Ukraine SSR Republic Labor Union!!! ID Was awarded To Comrade (Mrs.) Tamara Zadorozhnya. BY THE WAY HERO OF SOCIALISTIC LABOUR!!!!
    10. Now on to number two: SOVIET HONORARY TITLE DIPLOMA ID RUSSIAN DOCUMENT. USSR Honorary Diploma ID That Was Used In Soviet Union. This Honorary Diploma Says That There Will Be Portrait Of The Recipient On Hall Of Fame! Diploma ID Was Represented From Ukraine SSR Party Supreme Deputy & Deputy Secretary!!! ID Was awarded To Comrade (Mrs.) Zinaida Zernenkaya. BY THE WAY HERO OF SOCIALISTIC LABOUR!!!!
    11. Hi all, I've had a request to post these in a separate thread so here goes. Here's are my latest additions to my Soviet document collection. I'll include the (paraphrased) descriptions of the seller (Zozlo) and also the pictures are his and used with his kind permission. As always any and all comments and translations are most welcome. First off... my favorite of all of them: DOCUMENT FOR HIGHEST SOVIET AWARD ?HERO OF SOCIALIST LABOR?. Congratulation Document For ?Hammer & Sickle Golden Star? Hero Of Socialist Labour Of The USSR. IT IS HUGE!!!!!! The Dimensions Of The Item Are About 16,93`(43cm) x 12,2`(31cm)! Awarded To Comrade Petr Mishkin.
    12. I'm happy to do better scans of anything if needed. Although I think Vitaly did a very good job. Dan
    13. Hi all, I've had a request to do this and some of my other new documents in seperate threads by themselves. So here we go. First off, the pics are from Vitaly Kudinov (Okudinova on Ebay) and used with his kind permission. 1948 Soviet Army ID document to issued to Sergeant Shatilov Pavel Emelianovich on March 15, 1948. Best part is it lists his awards as: Combat Service medal # 1,941,100 on April 19, 1944 and Order of Red Star # 1,850,009 on April 4, 1945. So hoping I'll be able to get him researched and find out more about him and his awards. And having his pic where he's actually wearing one of his awards is a definite bonus in my eyes! Just wish I had the awards to go with it. Perhaps they'll turn up some day. But hoping at the very least there will be an interesting story behind it all.
    14. Gordon, thanks for posting this. Those are great pics. I wonder... is the memorial to fallen border guards still there or has it been torn down as has happened to so many communist memorials and monuments from that era? Dan
