    1. I awoke this morning to find this wonderful birthday present under the tree…. By Prof TH Kärner Model No 1: "Junger Dackel, liegend". Many thanks to my dearest Rachel.
    2. Yes indeed, Pat....B H Mayer. Nice pick-up I notice that it has a touch of zinc pest, you may want to consider applying some vasline to affected areas. it will both stabalize and stop the spread of the corrosion.
    3. Complete absorption of the finish on zinc badges/awards is quite common, and would think that this is most likely the case with your piece.
    4. Cheers for that, Tom....having revisited this badge on my desktop, I think you may well be right. Certainly looks a lot better than it did on my iPhone. Apologies for the the confusion.
    5. Hi Fariz One of the major hazards of collecting...There have been fakes of original items since the wheel was invented, in fact you can most likely buy a Chinese copy the original wheel on ebay! You may want to have a look at the 'fakes' section to acquaint yourself with what's out there..some good, some bad....it's a minefield. I look forward to the pics, Let's hope that they will show your badge to be okay
    6. Looks like either a cast copy of an original.... or, going on what appears to be corrosion, something like a 'ground dug' piece.... Definitely better pictures needed, Fariz
    7. I would say that it is an original... As far I know the "B" series type badges were for those members who needed a replacement for a lost, numbered, original issue badge...or just to have an extra. For comparison; a set of badges (issue numbered + B series) to the same H J member.
    8. Not for my collection... Soft features, wrong pin...quite a lot of red flags.
    9. Quite a few types of bogus Channel Island tokens out there to be careful of..... This link shows how busy the fakers were in the day.... https://sites.google.com/site/malstokens/c-i
    10. Ah....that's better A nice (Lekker een) original that's seen some action by the looks of it....
    11. Would like to see some more detailed pix of this clasp....but going on the ones supplied, it looks okay.
    12. A well known fake of the Assmann 2nd pattern Observer's badge, I'm afraid.... An original to compare it with..
    13. No problems with that one, Scott. Maker mark is C.E Juncker - Berlin SW
    14. Hi Don... Reverse hardware and incorrect maker mark shows that It's a copy (fake) of the civil radio operator's badge worn by members of the government-controlled airline, “Lufhansa”.
    15. The officer is Georg Keppler Many pre WW2 awards....almost impossible to give a complete list from these pictures. However, the 1st on the left is the EK 2 with 1939 spange, 4th from the left is most likely to be the Hindenburg cross and the one next to last is the 1st October 1938 Sudetenland Medal with Prague Bar. This link to 'Wikipedia' will hopefully be of some help in your research. http://en.wikipedia....i/Georg_Keppler
    16. That has to be the nicest parade mounted set I’ve seen in a long time! The bars (parade/ribbon) by themselves would have been just that; a nice set put way by an unknown recipient, found years later and sold on like so many others….but the retailers packet raises the set to a whole new level of interest. From the storage packet we know the recipient (Erich), his possible area of residence, or station (Stuttgart) and what theatre of operations he served in. I would love to know if this set originated from the family or was it found in a box in the storage room of ‘Albert Dommer’ – uniform/mützen fabric….If the latter, had he ordered the bar to be ready for his return from the front (and going on the fact that the ribbon bar shows no sign of wear) he failed to return to the “Vatherland” to collect it? Anyway….nice set, azyeoman. A wonderful piece of military history.
