    1. And a very nice example it is, Karsten. I take it that it has the "SW 68" mark?
    2. guys Trying to locate zincers in good condition is almost as hard as finding early badges in any condition these days! Boy, is it dry out there! @Rich....this arrived yesterday morning. I've posted a few new pieces over the past few weeks, but finding the pieces I need to finish certain sets is going to take some time, me thinks. Time to start collecting beer mats...
    3. Air Gunner/Flight Engineer's Badge (Fliegersch?tzenabzeichen f?r Bordschutzen u. Bordmechaniker) by Berg & Nolte - L?denscheid. Plated zinc wreath. Factory produced AG/FE eagle.
    4. I think it comes down to when the repair was done....If period, perhaps the widow of the recipient thought wearing her husband?s badge, in the form of a brooch, would be comforting? I'm afraid it?s one of those where the answers are lost in the mists of time.
    5. Hi Kev.. The lack of file marks (typical for Assmann) suggests that the repair was indeed carried out by a professional (jeweller) who has removed the original hardware/solder and has polished the surface before attaching the new system.
    6. Could it be one of the many veteran association badges given out at annual reunions?
    7. Stan... Here's my example of the same type (2nd pattern eagle/1st pattern recessed wreath) This one is also named: Uffz Jassner. 2.KG (z.b.V) 2. Briest. Kg2 (Holzhammer) took part in the 'Battle of Britain' and 'Briest' was the airbase at Brandenburg-Briest.
    8. Hi Dan Operational Flight Clasps (Frontflugspange) have risen dramatically in price over the past few years. Every time I look at these clasps they seem to have increased? this, alas, probably due to the amount of coverage given by fora such as ours. Your buntmetal example is clean, without damage and I would expect you to achieve at least ?550 (collector to collector) should you ever decide to sell?although I?ve seen them on dealer sites going for up to ?750??but that dealers for you!
    9. And this one with same die/hardware in aluminium, belonging to Bill.
    10. And talking of makers....I'm still trying to find the maker of this eagle. I've only come across two examples of this type...this one being of nickel silver.
    11. Time to calm it all down, sit cross legged, and consider the true meaning of ?OM? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H7ofPdEgsoQ Namast?
    12. Good morning, Karsten Welcome to the club As has been said...rare badges, and there some beauties shown guys
    13. Schwine! yer too good, Honey-buns! The hardware: Typical block hinge and atypical round wire catch on oval catch-plate. There are no signs of a catch replacement and can only think it to be a variant system.
    14. I'm sure this will be of interest. http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=26748&mode=linear
    15. Stan Eric has said it all. A very nice example!
    16. Gooood morning, Tim. A combination of parts that I?ve not come across before, but the badge certainly has that ?feel good factor?. The wreath is Juncker, Hinge and catch/catch-plate also Juncker, but the eagle looks to be from the firm who produced the unmarked type with the oblong catch-plate. I wonder if there is a connection to a firm such as S&L?
    17. Going on that picture....Carl Eickhorn's pattern Nr. 189 enlisted man's saber. These can be found with and without an engraved eagle on the langet.
    18. Hi Jeff A shot of the grip/pommel will help in identifying the pattern/model number, and whether enlisted man?s or officer?s saber.
    19. I take it that there is some paperwork in the group of items giving you the name and rank of the officer? Anything else that could help, such as unit/feldpost stamps on citations, letters etc? How about posting pictures of the group? there may be something you?ve missed.
    20. There are a lot of these large post '45 bars about. Beware!
