    1. Now that is a beautiful piece, Stan?and one of the rarest Luftwaffe awards. The salver was awarded to those members involved in ground combat and had shown outstanding bravery, but not quite enough to earn the DKiG. Instituted in June 42, the salver was replaced by the Roll of Honour clasp (Ehrentafelspange ? Luftwaffe) at end of 1944. On the institution of the Roll of Honour clasp, all those who had previously been awarded the salver were entitled to wear the clasp. Many thanks?.You?ve made my day.
    2. I?ve traced Karl Jebens from 1./flaklehrregiment through a promotion to Obstlt and a transfer to Stab/Flak-Regiment 153 (mot.)?and this is where it ends. He served with Stab/Flak-Regiment 153 from 23.4.41 - 29.6.41 which would make him 45, making him eligible for reserve status. This is probably why he survived the war as his unit went on to serve on the Russian front, suffering heavy losses. The search continues.
    3. Bob, I?m still going through flak unit listings in an attempt to find Herr Jebens. Will let you know if I come up with anything. In the meantime, here?s a little history on the family. Born: 10th March 1896 Father: Carl Jebens Mother: Anna Maria Jebens (nee Peterson) Wife: Luise Jebens (nee Strack) married 7th April 1921 ? Echzell Children: Three boys. Carl Ludwig Jebens. KIA - Moshaisk, Ru?land. 26 Nov 1941. Carl Claus Jebens. No further info. Carl Christopher. No further info. Herr Jebens survived the war and passed away in Hamburg ? 18 March 1974. His wife, Luise passed away in Hamburg ? 11 Jan 1987
    4. Jim, This frame is not only a tribute to one of the top aces of WW1, Oswald Boelcke but is also a remembrance of service in one of the earliest squadrons formed by the Luftwaffe. Kampfgeschwader 154 "Boelcke" was formed on the 1.4.36 in Hannover. I. Gruppe, originally designated ?Fliegergruppe Fassberg? was formed on the 1.5.34, and transferred to KG 154 "Boelcke" on the 1.4.36. The dates on the frame show that the owner was a member of ?Fliegergruppe Fassberg? from the unit?s inception, the transfer to KG 154 "Boelcke" and for some months after. KG 154 "Boelcke" went on to be become KG 157 "Boelcke" (redesignation: 1.4.37) and on the1.5.39 was finally designated KG 27 "Boelcke" KG 27 "Boelcke" was disbanded 8.4.45. So what you have is a very nice piece of military aviation history. I take it that there are no clues, on either frame or photo, as to the owner?s identity?
    5. "It would seem he wasn't one for regulations" To prove the point (although a little ) this photo shows "Ramcke" without an eagle at all!
    6. Very nice, Eric... That has to be the cleanest "FLL" I've ever seen.
    7. A rather interesting photo of General der Fallschirmtruppe - Bernhard-Hermann Ramcke wearing a summer eagle on his tropical uniform. It would seem he wasn't one for regulations: firstly, it's on the wrong uniform.. and it's not gold!
    8. This one (thus far...maker unknown) was discussed when it's aluminium counterpart turned up on a members' uniform. Any idea as to the maker? http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=16731
    9. Hi Jos Here are a few to have a look at. First up is an early droop tailed example that belonged to Stabszahlmeister Gerhard Oelsch. Stab 4. Fsch.-Jg. Div.
    10. I'm with you on this one, Mark. A 'textbook' example by Wiedmann as far as I'm concerned...and in wonderful condition!
    11. Mark I'm moving this most interesting thread over to the "Spanish Civil War" section.
    12. I can only echo what has already been said?. All the best, Bob.
    13. Chris, What an extremely interesting document! It would seem to be a cancellation of an order for 160 ?Fliegerschaftsabzeichen? (Air Crew Badges) due to the badge no longer being awarded. It brings to light an unknown (for me at least) maker of the Air crew badge. Has anyone any information on the firm ?Hoppe & Homan, Minden. Westfalen?
    14. Dave, There are a couple in this thread... http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=2614 posts 15 & 45.
    15. Hi Dave Yes, you are correct. The order was published in ?Luftwaffenverordnungsblatt? 40, No 625 dated 25th May 1940.
    16. Having seen the group that this badge came with, knowing the dealer that recently sold said group it wouldn?t surprise me to find out that this was indeed a rare maker. Stijn, I would be interested to know if any of your contacts have come across this maker, and if any veterans have memories of being awarded such a badge.
