True, about 400 or so were issued but no list of recipients just yet..... I wish this info was available.... I've got three that I'd love to ID!! JC -
Mongolia Pix of orders / medals being worn

I doubt that we can identify him at this point... He isn't a "hero", nor does he have a title of merit, so for now the only way to find who he is might be to ask Dr.B or UB6365. Sorry... I might be wrong..... it wouldn't be the first time!! JC -
Considering the importance of herding in mongolia, I would be very happy if mine were for something like that. Military service is great too, but like Ed I feel that civilian awards are often under-appreciated. They should be seen in the context of the country/society in question. JC

Thanks but this still has too much reflection from the flash.... I just can't read it sorry. jc

Very interesting.... Could you please post a better picture of the document... I might be able to figure a few things out from the text. Possible the reason for the award. Thanks JC

Alexei just listed pinback #860 for $2750..... I just checked this thread for any mention of this SB, and a year ago (feb13) this very SB was for sale by Eugene at $1950. Even at this price I can't help but think that they are worth it. JC

This item was also damaged... Part of the red banner was missing . Nothing too bad though.... I was expecting 2000-2250 so this was "reasonable" I guess... JC

Soviet Decoration of Marshal Rokossovsky
fjcp replied to Alexandre's topic in USSR: Soviet Orders, Medals & Decorations
I'm not sure what the first of the three is but the second one is the Mongolian "Friendship" medal.... very well made little medal and the third is a higher class of the Polish "Vir tuti militari" order, but I'm not sure which class. I hope those are the ones you were wondering about... JC PS. The Sukhbaatar should be serial number 342 awarded in 1961 -
This large doc was apparently awarded to Mr. Murakami on Showa 18, 1943, and says wounded in China... I hope that's what it says..... My Japanese is very rusty!!!! JC
-
here are two I picked up not too long ago.... First one is for a Navy soldier, Mr. Iwasaki, who got sick while in southern China.
-
Just thought I'd add these to the mix... I have no idea about either one of these and this one was for sale on the French ebay but the listing was pulled.... Anyway they looked rather similar so perhaps this might help the ID process along.. Cheers JC

Soviet Opinions about early group
fjcp replied to new world's topic in USSR: Soviet Orders, Medals & Decorations
Don't mean to get involved where I'm not wanted, but I've just got one observation.... I've collected many Mongolian documents and more than a few have had pictures added etc. So I was wondering how the picture in the booklet got all folded etc. while the cover of the booklet is just fine? I can't imagine that they would use an old picture in a nice new award booklet........ The stamp matches well enough but still.... Ok, I'm leaving..... JC -
Great looking uniforms!!! RathBM.Would it be possible to get a closeup of the ribbon bar please???? It looks rather interesting!!! Thanks JC
-
I love it when I'm right.....'cause it really doesn't happen that often... Igor just listed SB #1635 for $2750.... JC
-
Hey Bob, I'll have a better look at the other docs. later, but the bottom one is 100% sure for khalkin Gol. The 29 on the cover and inside are for '39.. Nice one! Even nicer the award number is very very low 316 by the looks of it!!!! Congrats!! JC
