    1. Close-up of number 2 horseman. Kevin in Deva.
    2. Hallo Gents, just picked this up at the local Hobby Club meeting this evening, it shows a group 7 men on horseback, numbers 1,2,4, are wearing a unit cross(?) Any opinions welcome. Kevin in Deva.
    3. Hallo MattGibbs, Probably one of the many newly rich Russians, who are cleaning the shelves of anything TR connected, I believe they were out in full force at Reichtershoffen (sp) Militaria Fair in September 2008. Kevin in Deva
    4. Hallo VINLAND30, you are certainly allowed to hold your own opinion with regards your "treasure" and you might be surprised at the discipline and dedication to orders in the German Military, that's one of the reasons they were able to hold out for as long as they did inWW2 on the Eastern Front. But many of us, in the collecting field (and not just in the TR period,) are very wary of these "treasures" that have nothing behind them to corroborate them, only word of mouth, if you care to look at the TR Fakes section you will also see a number of fantasy items" all being offered by unscrupulous sellers to gullible novice and even experienced collectors to obtain their hard earned cash. Seeing you have this ultra rare piece in your collection, I suppose its off to search for the MEGA rare SS Submarine badge next.? Please let us know when you find it and have a nice day. Kevin in Deva.
    5. Hallo Ulsterman many thanks for the identification of this object Kevin in Deva
    6. Hallo VINLAND30 Just because an item gets sold on a web-site that is not a guarantee that the item is 100% original to the time and place, the sellers blurb says it is from. In your initial post you say:- 1. Why only 500? and remember the Eastern Front was a very big front. 2. Dropped! what in boxes out of aircraft?, not a very good way of getting the items into enemy hands, and surely devices like this would have been required to have been handed into the whatever units intelligence officer, Not saying that all would obey the regulations, but, if even a couple were handed in they would probably have been documented and orders issued with regards them being collected up, and anybody found to have one could face disciplinary action for holding enemy propaganda. You posted the item here on the forum and asked for opinions with regards this piece, opinions have been duly given, now, the choice is yours whether to accept them or disregard them, but, until there is some documented proof and not hearsay then this is one item, I wont bother spending my money on. Kevin in Deva.
    7. Hallo Gents, Any ideas on this object? Sorry no dimensions available yet. The crown on the winged figure looks like the Hungarian Royal Crown. http://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_10_2008/post-950-1223486534.jpghttp://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_10_2008/post-950-1223486560.jpg Kevin in Deva.
    8. Sorry Ferdinand, my bad I did not see your post when formulating and posting my reply. Kevin in Deva
    9. I stand open to correction but are not the "Leningrad Cowboys" actually from Finland? I saw a film a few years ago I think it was "Leningrad Cowboys go Amerika!" A great laugh and some very good music. Kevin in Deva.
    10. Hallo VINLAND30, first you have posted your thread in the TEST section where you might not get to many responses. Second, use of the Forum "Search" function, would lead you to this:- http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=2309...rder+Iron+Cross EDIT: I think the translation is "For Robbery and Murder" Buy the piece, not the story, but, before you buy anything do some basic research, I, like Danny 70, feel these are modern post WW2 Fantasy pieces, why only 500 if for propaganda purposes the Eastern Front would have been seeded with them. And they turn up as I class pieces as well. They have obviously had some time spent on them in manufacturing, why bother you were trying to degrade the enemy's high award, for propaganda purpose, you would not waste time and money on quality for that purpose. Kevin in Deva.
    11. Hallo b737 thanks for your comments, with regards the Romanian Crossing of the Danube Cross 1877, I am aware that an officer who had a father, who was an officer who received the Crossing of the Danube Cross in 1877 could receive the cross and it would be worn with the "TRADITE" Bar, (I believe this tradition was carried on into pre W.W.2 times.) If this is the bar awarded to a Romanian officer then he would surely be required, to mount the appropriate sequence of medals on the bar, so I would expect the 1877 Cross with "TRADITE" bar, as well as the 1913 Campaign Medal to be there as well, as any intermediate Commemorative medals, for example military service medals, etc..etc.. Can you also confirm if a Officer was awarded the "Mihai Viteza" Cross they also received the Order of the Star in some grade? We must also consider the possibility that the mini ribbon is in fact a Russian mini ribbon, as I have never heard of ribbons being mixed and matched in the way you suggest. I can not recall any country, State, etc..etc.. allowing an officer to pick and choose which orders he would prefer to wear By I take you mean, we have to wonder why the Rosette, which belongs / indicates its from the Romanian Order of the Star, is being worn / attached to a Romanian Order of the Crown (to explain, if members look closely they will see the blue in the Rosette is darker than the blue associated with the Romanian Military Virtue ribbon.) Again this bar raises more questions than it answers. Kevin in Deva
    12. Its not an Iron cross, its a Prussian War Help Service Cross they were issued from 1916 - 1924 many went to people who worked in hospitals, invalid homes, immediate post WW1 etc..etc.. also awarded to Red Cross Nurses / helpers. Military Medical Personal. The early ones were in Silver, later, like yours in Kreigsmetal, i.e. zink, with a low value for the zink model. Kevin in Deva.
    13. Hallo gor, can you provide a little information on where this bar was obtained from? While the orders look to be original, I think they or possibly some have been added to the bar from separately obtained items. I do not like the way the ribbons have been placed on the bar, in fact, they look nothing at all in the style which Romanian awards can be found. the Romanian M.V. award seems to have been applied as an afterthought, and I don't like the fact that there are some basic Romanian medals that should be found mounted alongside the M.V. award and the Order of the Crown. the French Medal hangs in a style I would normally associate with British awards. Looking at the rear the Polish and Russian awards look like they are original to the bar, as there is some uniformity in their mounting. Kevin in Deva.
    14. Please see:- http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=3127...t=0#entry294774 might be of some help. Kevin in Deva
    15. Hallo Gents, am I the only one who finds the arrangement of orders on this "Romanian" bar quite strange? Surely he should have some other lower awards, even if related to WW1. Romania X 2, France X 1, Poland X 1, Russia X 1 Possibly the Romanian Balkan Campaign Medal? or Romanian Cross of War, Romanian Victory Medal. Opinions please. Kevin in Deva
    16. Can it defined what the makers stamps hallmarks are? this might give some indication as to where it came from, I read recently somewhere, that the upper-class in Imperial Russia, were very fond of using the French language and utilizing French versions of their names, instead of using Cyrillic characters. Kevin in Deva.
    17. Hard to say Ricky, he would be 85 now if still alive, perhaps I should check the phone book on my next visit I think he would have an interesting story to tell. Looks like he has been preceded by his wife or wives though Kevin in Deva.
    18. Close Up:- 1. Republica Populara Romania Medalia "Eliberarea De Sub Jugul Fascist". 2. Republica Populara Romania Medalia " Meritul Militar". 3. Russia, Victory over Germany Medal. 4. Czechaslovakia, Cross of War. Kevin in Deva.
    19. Hallo Gents, I was invited last week to attend an Irish Traditional Musical Review in the Sala Mare, City Hall, Cluj-Napoca, Transylvania, the invite came via the Irish Ambassador H.E. Mr. John Morahan, and the Mayor of Cluj-Napoca, Mr. Emil Boc. Guest of Honour being President of Ireland Mrs Mary McAleese and her husband Dr. Martin McAleese, accompanied by her Aide-de-Camp, Colonel Declan Carberry. The next morning I went on up to the "Heros Cemetery" in Cluj and photographed all the Soviet headstones, after that I took a wander through the civil section of the graveyard and came across this one: ROTARIU COSTACHE Born:- 24 II 1923 - Died:- X X X X Kevin in Deva.
    20. Many thanks for the clarification with regards the Belgian issue of the Victory Medal. Kevin in Deva.
