    1. Hallo Hardy. thats a real Gem of a Baden Medal I attach a couple of pictures showing a couple of Baden's from my collection, the first shows the perculier style Baden ribbon Ose has been detached from the medal, a very common occurance. Kevin in Deva.
    2. The rears: As can be seen the ribbon attachment fixing points to the medal itself, are extremely delicate, (a major design flaw) this results in many being broken off, and collectors are advised to handle with care. Kevin in Deva
    3. Variatons, on the Kings Profile and ribbon attachments ( Ose.) The middle one possibly has lost the original ribbon mount as there are no Laurel leaves!! All of these are none Maker marked. I believe the medal was issued in only Gold (1st Class) and Silver (2nd Class) But stand open to be corrected. The medal was issued from 1913 Balkan Campaign on to WW2 it was issued to members of the German Forces in WW2 as well. Kevin in Deva.
    4. Hallo Igor A couple of ribboned examples in my collection. No Maker mark. Kevin in Deva.
    5. Hall Igor, must say I like the British Description for it, the literal Romanian translation to English is: For MANHOOD & LOYALTY!!! RESCH was the maker in Bucharest, F. PAWLIC FEC the designer I believe. Kevin in Deva.
    6. Hallo Doc Congrats on the good luck in finding a missing Medal Who is it named to? and is he due anymore medals? Kevin in Deva
    7. Hallo Gents this has been given to my step-son here in Romania, its completely harmless. I was thinking of cleaning it up and mounting it on a board to hang on his bedroom wall. I believe it to be a Romanian model but not sure which. Would it be possible to replicate the outer skin of the war-head? Could anybody suggest a good paint scheme Kevin in Deva
    8. Hallo Christophe Seems like a fun place to have worked NOT Boring Bland decoration and furniture, the best bit about the medal and insignia expostion is the display shelves Kevin in Deva
    9. Hallo webr55 I have only seen the Transylvanian one on the pale blue ribbon, both on the web, and here in Transylvania, its the way I got mine, these medals came in a series of 3, somewhat equavalent to the German Flower War medals as all had to do with annexing "lost" territory from after WW1. Here is the third in the series. Kevin in Deva.
    10. Hallo webr55 Slightly confused about the last ribbon, if the Transylvanian Medal then it had a blue ribbon, the re-occupation of areas near & over the Czechaslovakian border, I believe had a red & blue ribbon. Hungarian Transylvania Medal with the image of Matthis Corwin. (often found in Zink,) to the rear, a representation of the Siebenburgen (7 Cities) of Transylvania. Kevin in Deva, Translvania.
    11. Hallo Mark, thanks for your quick reply, any others to offer comments?? Kevin in Deva PS: OK I know its the weekend, after all the clubbing and dancing the night away is done then

    13. Hallo Kip, seeing I was the original poster of the link regarding this item, its only fair I address your comments. Point 1, the 1914 Iron Cross II Class, has to be one of the most common items placed for sale on Ebay World-wide after the Hindenberg Cross of honour, if the seller had glanced through any of the militaria sections on Ebay, he would have seen numerous examples and their prices. Point 2. I, contacted the seller with regards the item, I told him exactly what it was, and gave hiim an approxamate value with regards the current price both on and off ebay worldwide. Point 3, the seller responded with thanks, but said he was waiting for the auction to end before he relisted it at the right price, when you have up to 24 hours before the auction ends to make any changes and add any information, take in mind the auction still had 4 days to go when I informed him about the item. Point 4, If, he had sold the item after, I informed him of the current price / value, to somebody who did not realise the true value of the 1914 Iron Cross, II Class, do you think he would tell them that they were overpaying by some 300 dollars? I dont think so. Point 5, he also asked me if I would give him my email address so he could offer me some iii reich material that he could not sell on Ebay, I believe Ebay have a regulation about using their auction pages or their system to offer items outside ebay, iii reich pieces included. Point 6, Many members here at G.M.I.C. have often contacted or tried to contact proffesional sellers on Ebay, with regards the mis-information on their auctions, and most times they have been ignored, simply because the seller is interested in getting a sucker to pay big prices for crap items (Fake Pour le Merite, springing instantly to mind). Point 7, before making comments about so many "experts on maure", you might like to know, that the members of the G.M.I.C. are among the best at pointing out the many fakers and Con-men, shill-bidders out there, some of us feel its our duty to point out anything that looks fishy or is an outright rip off, many members have been stung in the early days of collecting and feel obliged to help, warn, and advise fellow members, especialy newcomers to militaria collecting. Point 8. There are sellers out there in Ebay world who do rely on the ignorance of the buying public with regards antiques, and will not hesitate to put anything in the auction description to get their hands on the buyers hard-earned cash. Point 9, Nowhere, in any of the posts on this thread, are the words, Grand Cross mentioned until you mention them, we are talking about a very common 1914 Prussian Iron Cross, II Class, its your right to make a comment, but, make sure you understand the members reasons for doing so as well. Kevin in Deva.
    14. Hallo Chris, the trousers belong to a friend of mine called Boris, who is a collector in South Germany, they were bought from a farmer in a small village in the Allg?u region of Bavaria, where my friend had called to do some plumbing work, he has picked up a lot of iii reich stuff that has been hiden away on old farms. From his local research he found out the the ss had clothing factories located at Buchenwald Camp complex. Kevin in Deva
    15. Hallo Gents, Not to put a downer on this story but I believe they had left their Armoured Personel carrier to go shoping in a market. Vigilance is the watchword, the Taliban were obviously waiting for this and had a suicide bomber lined up ready for a chance. Hi BJOW, Twenty-one German soldiers have lost their lives in Afghanistan since 2002, including the ones killed on Saturday. May They All Rest In Peace. Kevin in Deva.
    16. Hallo BJOW, Can you date the above story? I thinks its an old one?? Kevin in Deva.
    17. The following statement would have made me suspicious As far as I remember there are no rafters in a Mosque, and if he had ever set foot in one he would know that, the Moronic "wannabe" liar, I hope he gets jail-time for his lies. Kevin in Deva.
    18. Hallo Gents, What about a Western European Section covering: Holland, Belgium, France, Republic of Ireland, U.K., Isle of Man, Channel Islands. Kevin in Deva
    19. Nice one Johnsy Take everything they want to give you, its your right after all. Stay off the Digestive bikkies they dont agree with you Kevin in Deva.
    20. Hallo Danny, Glad to see you got some info on your plate, with regards, the Swiss military, they use the SIG-SAUR weapons systems, local swiss manufacture, all swiss soldiers & reservests bring their weapons home so as to be armed and available in case of a call out. Surprisingly there is very little gun crime in Switzerland and suprisingly very litte in the way of gun offences commited. You probably saw the Irish Army with weapons when they were escorting the Bank Cash transports (known as "Cash In Transit" Patrols) to Banks around Mayo they used to be in Castlebar twice a week doing this, as well as in other towns & citys. Kevin in Deva (with fond memories of hanging out the back of a landrover on the C.I.T. Patrols)
    21. Hallo Gents, thanks for your replies. There is NO maker name and the ribbon ring mount is different to yours Charles. I have never heard of these being made as fakes as the detail is very good. Replacement pieces in ?pst-WW1 Transylvania. Kevin in Deva
    22. Hallo Danny70, a plain but interesting piece, your translation is spot on: PISTOL SHOOTONG. ACTIVE SERVICE 1940 / 41. ? RGT 2, 2 RANK COMBINATION. I believe it possibly was issued to a member of the Swiss Army for a shooting competition if a iii reich piece it would carry a lot more detail and symbols. Kevin in Deva
