Laurence Strong Posted August 17, 2006 Posted August 17, 2006 (edited) I have been surfing the Luftwaffe uniform section and see lot's of tabs but very few breast eagles so here are a couple of mine. Please feel free to post your's metal or cloth. First a EM/NCO 2nd pattern eagle Edited August 18, 2006 by Laurence Strong
Laurence Strong Posted August 17, 2006 Author Posted August 17, 2006 (edited) Second to illustrate the difference a 1st pattern officers bullion eagle. Thanks for looking and feel free to contribute Edited August 18, 2006 by Laurence Strong
Avitas Posted August 17, 2006 Posted August 17, 2006 Here is my Luftwaffe EM chest eagle, with some wear to add to its saltiness. I am not sure what pattern it is but it is a regular enlisted mans eagle I believe. Nice bullion eagle as well Laurence! Cheers,Pat
Avitas Posted August 17, 2006 Posted August 17, 2006 Here is the back of the EM eagle, to illustrate how clean the reverse is compared to the front. A wee bit soiled from active duty time I would say.Cheers,Pat
Laurence Strong Posted August 17, 2006 Author Posted August 17, 2006 Hi PatThats a nice one very similar to mine. To determine the difference you have to look at the tail. The 1st pattern's tail has a distinct "hug the body" to it, while the 2nd pattern had a slightly flared tail and an upraised head.
Paul R Posted August 17, 2006 Posted August 17, 2006 Hi Larry,This is my only loose eagle(The others are still stuck to tunics).
Laurence Strong Posted August 18, 2006 Author Posted August 18, 2006 Thanks Paul Here's the reverse of my Bullion one
Paul R Posted August 18, 2006 Posted August 18, 2006 That is a nice eagle, Larry! Is that 3.50 in Reichs Marks or dollars? Here is the one from my medical officer Fliegerbluse.
Laurence Strong Posted August 18, 2006 Author Posted August 18, 2006 That would be 1940's reich marks. Any one else care to contribute.. feel welcome
Scott Posted August 25, 2006 Posted August 25, 2006 (edited) Well, since Paul showed his attached to a tunic, I'll do the same. My favorite: an early cord-stitched droop-tail... Edited August 25, 2006 by Scott
Hauptmann Posted August 25, 2006 Posted August 25, 2006 Hi all,Don't suppose anyone has any camo examples? I had one and let it go many moons ago. Didn't want to and really wish I'd kept it. Was a beautiful piece and I haven't seen too many pop up since. And best thing was... it was stone cold mint! So come on folks... dig some out and let me see, although I'll just start kicking myself harder for letting mine slip away. Thanks, Dan
Laurence Strong Posted August 25, 2006 Author Posted August 25, 2006 Hi ScottThats a nice example, never seen one like that before. Thanks for posting
Paul R Posted August 25, 2006 Posted August 25, 2006 Scott, That is a beautiful example. I have not seen that pattern before, either. NICE I have only seen one camo example. I hope you find another.I will take some photos of my others tonight. My favorite is a nice bullion droop tail from an NCO Tuchrock.RegardsPaul
Hauptmann Posted August 26, 2006 Posted August 26, 2006 Here'a an ugly duckling KRPeterI don't know... I rather like it. Dan

Was the only one I'd ever seen and I let it go. I'm an idiot! In fact I just did a search and could not even find a picture of one. And the one I had was beautiful... stone cold mint condition and one of the most beautiful luft eagles I'd ever seen. I think it was even a droop tail but been so long I can't remember that for sure. Just a great piece. Arrrrgh! Nuts! Dan
Paul R Posted September 30, 2006 Posted September 30, 2006 Here is another from a Feldwebel Flight Mechanics tunic.
Paul R Posted September 30, 2006 Posted September 30, 2006 And here is an eagle from my Flak Fliegerbluse. It is definately a strange one!
Laurence Strong Posted September 30, 2006 Author Posted September 30, 2006 Hi PaulThey sure are a different pair, I like the droop tail, the top of the wings are of a strange design.
Paul R Posted September 30, 2006 Posted September 30, 2006 Thanks Larry,They are both a bit different, but they checked out!My favorite is the bullion EM droop tail. There is a lot of detail in the wings, yet I find the legs and feet a bit funny looking.
