Ed_Haynes
Yes, that fantasy Internal Security badge is the same one that was making the rounds -- and being universallly laughed at -- when I was in Ulanbaatar this summer. It is the first outright fantasy-fake Mongolian item spotted; some fakes are out there, expecially Medal of Unselfishness and some fake foreign Soviet Lenin 100s (though these may be coming out of the former CCCP). Ed_Haynes
The second design oustanding fireman badge is uncommon (maybe even rare?) and the nicest in this batch. Edited September 22, 2006 by Ed_Haynes
Lingqi
The certificate is not a pair of middle chapter did not strike, the security badgesI guess he is saying the middle document and the badge do not match. actually the middle badge looks great to me even it is a fake. The quality looks good. I am curious to know where these fakes come from?
Ed_Haynes
I have doubts that any of the documents match the badges. When you see it, there is no doubt about that phoney fantasy Internal Security badge. Very coarse construction.

It just smelled funny! Here are the pictures I was sent by the seller.JC

It is really, really interesting how a totally unknown badge stays unknown until, suddenly, several samples come forth. And NOT from any familiar source (and especially NOT from the Central Bank). If you wonder where that odd smell comes from, look to this badge.I wish I were wrong, but when you see it there is little doubt. (Sorry usairforce, I hope you didn't pay too much for it)There are so many great Mongolian items and some really bad ones, but even the bad ones have a certain something. Take P01 for example, crude construction and it looks like a ten year old designed it but I still think it's a great little badge! It's almost cartoonish, but it has character! This badge just has none of that, it was made to deceive.usairforce, the other two badges are very nice though.JClast pic of the back, not really needed but that's all of them.. I have the strong suspicion that there are also fake Gold Soyombo's in circulation. Have been offered one directly for sale (different photographs which were clearly not of the same item) and there is now also one for sale on soviet-awards.com that has sparked my suspicion

GerdI have an original of both types 1 and 2 of Gold Soyombo and this one just looks like a copy:- poor enamel on the award itself- incorrect screw- enamel on ribbon not corresponding with known examples- reverse also not in line (more crude)- etc.- etc.Look here for comparisonhttp://gmic.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=4229

Bob
Back to the Soyombo... could it be, like the SB, ORB, PS, etc. that there is just a more recent "cheaper" version of it being awarded?

I think it is quite possible that there may be a cheap post-Socialist variety out there. But it is just that we don't know of anyone who has seen one yet. When such a badge is spotted in Mongolia it will be interesting news. But when such a badge comes from a neighboring country to the south, a country which has come to challenge Latvia for the Faker's Non-Hero Star, I worry.
