Bob Posted October 29, 2006 Posted October 29, 2006 Sunday's are always good to flip through Dr B's book and this time what sparked my interest was the awards that Tsedenbal has (page 21).In particular: 3 Bulgarian Dimitrov orders!?! Never realized that Mongolia had such close ties to Bulgaria of all places. That's more than his modest 2 Order of Lenin's How about identifying the awards on the other side of his jacket?
Lukasz Gaszewski Posted November 21, 2006 Posted November 21, 2006 OK, let me try. First I allowed myself to copy the photos of comrade Yumjaagiyn Tsedenbal from another thread. Particularly helpful were these two photos of his in full glory, wearing all his gongs:
Lukasz Gaszewski Posted November 21, 2006 Posted November 21, 2006 And here are my findings. I am not sure of all his awards, but I think I could identify most of the ribbons.A. Bob Posted November 21, 2006 Author Posted November 21, 2006 Thanks Lukasz! Now, do you also know what the little blue ribboned medal on the right hand side of his jacket is? It corresponds with one of the ribbons or is something seperate? For sure he seems attached to it because he persistently wears it.Note, this is not a quiz - I really have no clue myself!
Ed_Haynes Posted November 21, 2006 Posted November 21, 2006 Well done, Lukasz! I thought that if anyone could do the ribbons easily, it would be you.
Riley1965 Posted November 21, 2006 Posted November 21, 2006 Ed,What is the medal with the blue bow suspension on the right side of his uniform? Doc
Ed_Haynes Posted November 21, 2006 Posted November 21, 2006 (edited) Ed,What is the medal with the blue bow suspension on the right side of his uniform? DocThis one on the left? Working on it! First impression was DDR Clara Zetkin Medal, but noooo . . . . And the other one?? Edited November 21, 2006 by Ed_Haynes
Lukasz Gaszewski Posted November 21, 2006 Posted November 21, 2006 Thank you Bob and Ed, your words always help me keep my head up high . As of Bob's question: the photo is not very clear but it is likely to be the German Peace Prize Medal. It is easier for me to identifiy the one next to it (on the red bar) which I think to be the medal of the Dimitrov Prize.L.
Lukasz Gaszewski Posted November 21, 2006 Posted November 21, 2006 Thanx Ed... Yep, very likely although there should be a dove on the ribbon. The other one is rather the Medal of 90th Birthday Anniversary of Dimitrov.
Riley1965 Posted November 21, 2006 Posted November 21, 2006 Ed & Lucasz,Many Thanks for the identification!!! Doc
jon m. Posted November 21, 2006 Posted November 21, 2006 (edited) 11. Medal "30 Years of the German Democratic Republic" (GDR ??)Yes, "German Democratic Rebublic" would be GDR, or DDR, or in Polish, NRD.Jon. Edited November 21, 2006 by jon m.
Stogieman Posted November 28, 2006 Posted November 28, 2006 I really wonder sometimes how they managed to move without clanging. I cannot imagine it being real comfortable to have that many screws poking into your skin!!!
Bob Posted December 11, 2019 Author Posted December 11, 2019 https://mongoliafaq.com/?p=3987 Great website - anybody know where Tsedenbal is buried? Is there a kind of hero's cemetery?
