As far as I know, no, but I have to recognize that I never tried

I have one of these (without the box of course) and it doesn't glow. One clever feature is if you rotate the bezel, it allows half of the underside to become clear, so you can place it on a map and see through the compass to the detail of the map.

Here's a few different styles that are available. The top one has an extension strap (which is out of the picture); the second one now has a strap that I recently acquired.

Here's another slightly different variation: the orienting arrow ends on this one are red, instead of the usual black. Also came with the extension strap.
