Wild Card Posted January 5, 2007 Posted January 5, 2007 Gentlemen,Please forgive me for behaving like a new father, but I have to share a couple of pictures of the newest member of our little family who joined us via the latest Thies auction. This is a silver Mecklenlenburg-Schwerin military merit medal for 1813 - 1815. While I have seen several gold medals over the years, this is the only silver one that I can remember. The fact that it came from the collection and estate of my dear friend Eric Ludvigsen means even more. She?s not much to look at, and her patina is approaching corrosion which may require some careful cleaning; but we love her.Best wishes,Wild Card
Chris Boonzaier Posted January 5, 2007 Posted January 5, 2007 Oooooh... Once David Gregory gets online again.... he will be sobbing at his keyboard when he sees what he missed !!!
Steve K. Posted January 5, 2007 Posted January 5, 2007 Yes, Very Nice. There were many Mecklenburg pieces at this auction, more so than usual (however, none came home to live with me)!
CRBeery Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 Great piece! Any idea on the number awarded? I really like the old ones.
Wild Card Posted January 7, 2007 Author Posted January 7, 2007 Great piece! Any idea on the number awarded? I really like the old ones.Hey CRBerry!Where have you been? I tried to send a PM to you some time back but got a ?message box full?. Anyway, I?ve not been able to get a fix on how many of these or the gold ones were awarded. Good to see you back, Wild Card
CRBeery Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 My family is still settling in from the move. I have not picked up the piece we discussed yet as a couple of medal bars have come up that I really liked. I hope to get it this month.
Gerd Becker Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 Absolutely fantastic. The first one, i have ever seen outside the Nimmergut-catalog. Congrats, WC
