Hendrik Posted January 15, 2007 Posted January 15, 2007 Gents,I'm trying to find out more about a Spange in a friend's collection : the dimensions given indicate it is a EK2 Spange, the reverse maker's mark is L/11 (Deumer) - However, I can see no traces of prongs or whatever other means of attachment. Would appreciate your views ...Cheers,Hendrik
ksg Posted January 18, 2007 Posted January 18, 2007 HiMade ready to be soldered to a IC ( and you meant of course EK 1 spange ) ?Kjell
Guest Darrell Posted January 18, 2007 Posted January 18, 2007 Personally, one I'd steer clear of. I've never seen an L/11 mark like that on a Deumer. Other features are dodgey as well.
Biro Posted January 19, 2007 Posted January 19, 2007 I totally agree with Darrell - this is not a Deumer (either first or second class) and I'm pretty sure some further research (which I don't have time to do now) will revel this to be a known fake.In fact from memory, it appears in Gordon's book in the fake section under the heading 'English fake'....Sorry Marshall
Hendrik Posted January 19, 2007 Author Posted January 19, 2007 Thanks Gents,As the total wings' span is reportedly 29.5 mm, my first inclination was to call it an EK2 Spange ... but, you both are confirming my feeling of it being too odd to be original. I'll forward the sad news to the present owner Cheers,Hendrik
Chris Boonzaier Posted January 19, 2007 Posted January 19, 2007 On the upper and lower right extremities you can see what looks like glue remains... maybe it had glued on prongs?
EuRob Posted February 25, 2007 Posted February 25, 2007 Here is my Deumer EKII spange which I got off the chairman. A nice piece and one of my favourites

joe campbell Posted May 10, 2008 Posted May 10, 2008 not scientific...but these repros never seem to get the character of the metalcorrect. they appear to be a funnycolor of blue, almost like gun metal....i think it represents combinations ofmodern alloys which can't mimic themetal composition used during the TR era.joe
