    EK2 Spange without prongs ?

    Recommended Posts

    Gents,

I'm trying to find out more about a Spange in a friend's collection : the dimensions given indicate it is a EK2 Spange, the reverse maker's mark is L/11 (Deumer) - However, I can see no traces of prongs or whatever other means of attachment. Would appreciate your views ...

    Cheers,

    Hendrik

    Guest Darrell

Personally, one I'd steer clear of. I've never seen an L/11 mark like that on a Deumer. Other features are dodgey as well.

I totally agree with Darrell - this is not a Deumer (either first or second class) and I'm pretty sure some further research (which I don't have time to do now) will revel this to be a known fake.

In fact from memory, it appears in Gordon's book in the fake section under the heading 'English fake'....

    Sorry

    Thanks Gents,

As the total wings' span is reportedly 29.5 mm, my first inclination was to call it an EK2 Spange ... but, you both are confirming my feeling of it being too odd to be original. I'll forward the sad news to the present owner :(

    Cheers,

    Hendrik

    not scientific...

but these repros never seem to

get the character of the metal

correct. they appear to be a funny

color of blue, almost like gun metal....

i think it represents combinations of

modern alloys which can't mimic the

metal composition used during the TR era.
