Mike Dunn Posted August 6, 2005 Posted August 6, 2005 Well, I need the advise of the guru's of ribbon bars! Typical three place W?ttemburg ribbon bar---but! The ribbon on the end glows--none of the others do and check out the pin on the back..Have not had a rbbion bar with this kind of pin on a ribbon bar. Any thoughts??? Thanks! Mike
Guest Rick Research Posted August 7, 2005 Posted August 7, 2005 Nothing wrong with that one! Lots of colors glow weird other colors-- and are perfectly normal for vivid pink, or lifeguard ornage and so on.It's only electric blue from white that is a bad sign.
landsknechte Posted August 7, 2005 Posted August 7, 2005 (edited) The pin arrangement is a bit unusual, but certainly not anything that would set off any alarm bells. This one has a flatter pin, but more or less the same arrangement.--Chris Edited August 7, 2005 by landsknechte
Stogieman Posted August 7, 2005 Author Posted August 7, 2005 and another!are we seeing the trends boils & germs??
Stogieman Posted August 7, 2005 Author Posted August 7, 2005 oh........... that last one with the Danzig Cross? That's at least the 6th one this YEAR
landsknechte Posted August 8, 2005 Posted August 8, 2005 oh........... that last one with the Danzig Cross? That's at least the 6th one this YEAR ←Tell me about it.... What's that last ribbon on the bar in post #29? Never seen that one before.--Chris
Christian L Posted August 8, 2005 Posted August 8, 2005 its the zwodomir (phonetic writing - or so) medalits from croatiathats the bell ringing in my brainbut im not 100% sure!
HeikoGrusdat Posted August 8, 2005 Posted August 8, 2005 Hi Christian,it is not only a bell in your brain - your whole head should be in a bell tower of a church... All are fakes!!! And now he offers some full size bars as well, did you see them Stogie? not better than the small ones...Heiko
landsknechte Posted August 9, 2005 Posted August 9, 2005 (edited) Another one that bears a striking similarity, this time from a different seller on eBay with an equally stellar reputation. Excerpted from his listing:FOR YOUR INFORMTION, I hide all my eBay auctions as PRIVATE. This measure is solely intended for the increase of your security. In the past, some of my customers have been contacted by fraudulent "sellers" with offers of similar or identical items. I believe that my bidders have a right to privacy and not to be solicited by fraudulent entities.Funny. I had always thought that private auctions on anything other than porn were generally a bad thing. I feel a little bit better now that he has informt me to the contrary.--ChrisP.S.You may now commence snickering. Edited August 9, 2005 by landsknechte
notned Posted August 10, 2005 Posted August 10, 2005 Oh Boy! that last ribbon bar is soooo funny! man! this guy has to be nuts!!
Bob Hunter Posted August 10, 2005 Posted August 10, 2005 I am fond of his use of artistic license in the placement of sword devices...
Christian L Posted August 10, 2005 Posted August 10, 2005 yes - as a livesaving medal far to near to the end (after such "shity" awards)and for a westwall - questionable without the hindenburg ribbon
Stogieman Posted August 15, 2005 Author Posted August 15, 2005 Same maker, different seller....... really funny!
HeikoGrusdat Posted August 15, 2005 Posted August 15, 2005 did you see the prices he got for the last ones Stogie? unbelievable!!! I can`t understand that people without knowledge of the period and the theme "orders and decorations" spend so much money on really easy fakes. Always again impossible combinations and always again he makes a lot of money with them.... Heiko
Stogieman Posted August 15, 2005 Author Posted August 15, 2005 Hi Heiko, yes, I saw several of these sell for crazy prices. Mind, i'm good with crazy prices, as long as the merchandise is real! here's another beauty. We are seeing either the same maker, or a student, or the seller has a new ID. In any event it's still a bad bar!
Stogieman Posted August 15, 2005 Author Posted August 15, 2005 Interesting, his web address goes to a Russian language homepage.
Guest Rick Research Posted August 15, 2005 Posted August 15, 2005 Well, at least now we know where all the world's never used Danzig Cross ribbon bar ribbon ended up. I've seen more in the last year than ever existed during the Third Reich! These combinations are d?j? vu to First Generation Ohio Parts Frauds: utter nonsense that anybody who knows what the ribbons are could dismiss out of hand.
David S Posted August 16, 2005 Posted August 16, 2005 (edited) How 'bout this one?Looks to good to be true Edited August 16, 2005 by David S
Guest Rick Research Posted August 16, 2005 Posted August 16, 2005 Well well, it's been awhile since we've been treated yo one of Mister Ohio Parts Fraud's Hideous Handsnipped Brassers![attachmentid=8369]What one of these horrors looks like stripped of its cover:[attachmentid=8370]versus what it is SUPPOSED to look like, a gold flashed steel backing:[attachmentid=8371]Of course, the "U stamped tongue" type usually doesn't turn up before the late 1930s, which would be wrong in any case for an "all WW1" group as the fake purports to be. Too bad, because it looks like that MIGHT actually be an original Brunswick device... but I wouldn't want to bet on it from the scan!
David S Posted August 17, 2005 Posted August 17, 2005 Thanks Rick !It's nice to know I was right about the catch.Pity . . . Not too many 'original' bars with Brunswick devices out there. This bar's on ebay at present.
landsknechte Posted August 17, 2005 Posted August 17, 2005 We are seeing either the same maker, or a student, or the seller has a new ID. In any event it's still a bad bar!←Again, that same stitching pattern... (I wish I could find the picture buried on my hard drive of the ribbon bar with the totenkopf device on the Ostfront ribbon.)--Chris
David Gregory Posted August 17, 2005 Posted August 17, 2005 Interesting, his web address goes to a Russian language homepage.←You can also select German by clicking on the flag symbols.A "whois" look-up of his domain name reveals Alexander's full name, address and telephone number - he lives in Berlin. However, the site seems to be empty.
