Alex K Posted May 28, 2007 Posted May 28, 2007 (edited) In my collection I have the attached decoration from the Franco Prussian war 1870-71, awarded by the state of Bavaria, unfortunately some damage to the reverse. Is this a military decoration, or red cross? and is it a female/male award. The construction is quite elaborate, with the thin gold edges around the cross, individual pieces soldered to the basic cross. is this a rare or common piece Any info greatly appreciated. regards Alex K Edited June 5, 2021 by speedytop double
Wild Card Posted May 28, 2007 Posted May 28, 2007 (edited) Hi Alex K, The damage to the reverse of your badge is most unfortunate. Because it is rather unique, I hope that you do not mind if I post a picture of what it would look like intact for the benefit of the members who may not have seen one. Alex K Posted May 28, 2007 Author Posted May 28, 2007 Hi Wild Card, no I don't mind, nice piece you have, pity obout the damage to mine. Is your ribbon originalAlex
speedytop Posted May 28, 2007 Posted May 28, 2007 (edited) Hi Alex, it is a male/female award, founded by King Ludwig II, 12. May 1871, awarded by the ministry of the interior. Enclosed is an award document for the practical doctor Dr. Wilhelm Miehr in Augsburg: Regards Uwe Edited June 13, 2021 by speedytop

Is your ribbon original Alex Hi Alex K, Thank you and yes, as near as I can tell, this is an original ribbon. Below is another example with some friends, which was obviously awarded to a woman. I realize that I have posted this group before; but felt that for the benefit of our newer forum members that it should be brought back out. Best wishes, Wild Card Edited June 5, 2021 by speedytop

chechaco1 Posted June 5, 2021 Posted June 5, 2021 I don't know, it goes through local auctions for $ 200, but it's too painful to replace the tablet interesting, it seems not that, and the dating is observed
spolei Posted June 6, 2021 Posted June 6, 2021 Hi, that is no bavarian Award, from which country is it? regards Andreas 1
Alex K Posted June 12, 2021 Author Posted June 12, 2021 (edited) Hi, another nice example, especially with the original case, is there any notation on the lid to the case or completely blank? Judging by the size of the cross, the case must be quite small Edited June 12, 2021 by Alex K
waldo Posted June 13, 2021 Posted June 13, 2021 Servus Alex, the case has only a blind embossed line at the top and has no hinge but only a strip of linen. The jobs were shared by Quellhorst and Hausinger. The cases are identical except for the manufacturer's name in the lid. Above you can see a Quellhorst Cross of Merit in a Hausinger case. Here I have added a Quellhorst case. If I can still remember that, around 1200 crosses have been awarded. Best wishes Walter
Alex K Posted June 14, 2021 Author Posted June 14, 2021 Hi, thanks for the additional information yes I recall that my damaged version is marked for hausinger as manufacturer Regards Alex
