Laurence Strong Posted September 19, 2007 Posted September 19, 2007 No photo however here is what he had, it came on a Third Reich Maj Generals tunicTop row L-R: WWI Iron Cross 1st and 2nd class (WWI), Eastern Front Medal (WWII), War Merit Medal of Saxe-Meiningen (WWI), Hindenburg Cross (WWI), Schlesischer Eagle (WWI), Baltic Cross (WWI). Bottom row L-R: 25 Year Long Service medal, 25 Year Long Service medal(WWI and II), 1 Oct 1938 Czech medal (WWII), Hungarian WWI veteran medal (WWI), Nazi Mine Rescue medal (WWII), Bulgarian War medal (WWI)
webr55 Posted September 19, 2007 Posted September 19, 2007 Is that a ribbon or a medal bar? I think we definitely need a photo before saying anything about that bar, because...... a General in Mine Rescue Service?? And this medal behind the Hungarian?? Or is it something else?... which long service medals? (WM cross 25 + WM medal 12?)... Baltic Cross on a medal bar is unusual at least.
Ulsterman Posted September 19, 2007 Posted September 19, 2007 I doubt it's Mine Rescue-probably Rumanian.
Laurence Strong Posted September 21, 2007 Author Posted September 21, 2007 Thanks guys.It from a different forum...they don't know where the experts live. I think you are right....looks to be Romanian or something like that.Real or made up?????
Paul R Posted September 21, 2007 Posted September 21, 2007 Real or made up?????Hi Larry,I would think that much better photos would be needed to confirm it's originality.
Dave Danner Posted September 21, 2007 Posted September 21, 2007 Second to last is the Bulgarian National Order for Military Merit.
Laurence Strong Posted September 22, 2007 Author Posted September 22, 2007 Hi Larry,I would think that much better photos would be needed to confirm it's originality.Hi PaulNot mine...was just wondering if the medal bar could be ID'd as belonging to someone....it's a Maj Gen tunic supposedly
dante Posted September 22, 2007 Posted September 22, 2007 Hi PaulNot mine...was just wondering if the medal bar could be ID'd as belonging to someone....it's a Maj Gen tunic supposedlyIMHO Looks like an old Bundeswehr tunic with bits added, I will let the experts loose on the ribbon bar, but looks decidedly new
Laurence Strong Posted September 30, 2007 Author Posted September 30, 2007 (edited) Gen'l d. Kav. Georg Stumme Knights Cross Acting CO Afrika Korps Died of Heart attack El Alamein. Edited September 30, 2007 by Laurence Strong
Guest Rick Research Posted September 30, 2007 Posted September 30, 2007 Stumme received the 83rd Saxe-Meiningen War Honor Cross on 24 July 1915 as an Oberleutnant in Feldart Rgt 57.The next to last ribbon is the Bulgarian Military Merit Order-Officer, on its statute ribbon. It could also have been awarded on the generic war ribbon (pale blue with a metallic silver stripe near each edge).
