Stogieman Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 Does anyone know the whereabouts of badge #2124?
Stogieman Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 Hi Jeff, I think I screwed up the number.... I believe I have a document for 2142, not 2124. That would have been cool
Stogieman Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 The award booklet in question. There's a heavy embossing of an image of the badge right into the back cover!
Ulsterman Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 Good God! Where did you get that!??? :jumping: Do I read that correctly that his Mum was Jewish?
Stogieman Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 The "Other, other Rick" is convinced that is not his Mom's name........ but rather his before he had his operation! This came from our good collectcing friend Farkas in Hungary. I don't see a copy of this in Charles' book.... I don't know if anyone else has one??
Ulsterman Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 Well, I do not. I have the cards, but not the passbook. Wow! Was that hiding in one of the tubs? ...underneath all the Bulgarian stuff?
hunyadi Posted February 28, 2012 Author Posted February 28, 2012 (edited) On the third page of this thread are the examples I have in my collection and Gordon's as well. On page 231 of Elvtars - there is an example of the first pattern award document. Sorry guys, I only had so much space to work with and chose to go with the image of the "ultra-rare" rather than the "harder to find" type. In addition I have just aquired #558 cant moderate and add to the list anymore Edited February 28, 2012 by Ulsterman
Ulsterman Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 You have #558!? Do you know who got it? Man, I wish they had put award dates on the books.
Stogieman Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 Apparently I am still having trouble seeing all the images that should load. I totally missed the booklets on page 3! Very nice indeed!
hunyadi Posted June 22, 2012 Author Posted June 22, 2012 I have held #1 in my hands - its in the National Museum along with Maleter's Partiszan Badge and medals.... I wish we could have been allowed to take photos....
Gordon Craig Posted June 23, 2012 Posted June 23, 2012 Charles, That was a really good day. I wish could have done something like that maore often although we did have our days! Regards, Gordon
Stogieman Posted September 15, 2012 Posted September 15, 2012 I just picked up my first matched, numbered set! I'll get scans up as soon as it arrives!
Stogieman Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 Please note I have updated the database with all current numbers on this thread through 9/25/12 I have also changed Type 1.3 to "Probably Soviet manufacture" per Charles. I was fortunate to speak with him today!
Stogieman Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 My New matched set #4302. Bright silvered background area.
Stogieman Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 I also acquired this pair of badges. Note the hand-scratched number on the reverse.
Ulsterman Posted September 27, 2012 Posted September 27, 2012 wow!!!! -where on earth did you get THAT???? :0
Gordon Craig Posted September 27, 2012 Posted September 27, 2012 Stogieman, I echo Dan's comment. Would love one myself. Regards, Gordon
Stogieman Posted October 31, 2012 Posted October 31, 2012 Well I was able to negotiate a substantially lower price for this one and It has arrived. Almost coal-black with tarnish, I believe it to be real silver. The flash is similar to felt and has been formed and stitched over a piece of cardboard. Charles felt the flash would represent an infantry soldier who received the badge. very happy with this, it's beautiful. I've added details to the list and an additional image below.
