Troy Tempest Posted November 14, 2007 Posted November 14, 2007 Hi gents! Does anyone know anything about this? Apparently only a handfull were awarded? What was it called?
dond Posted November 14, 2007 Posted November 14, 2007 That one is a 57er with a bogus marking added.
Troy Tempest Posted November 14, 2007 Author Posted November 14, 2007 Thanks Don! It's not for sale, I saw it on a Kriegsmarine site, and had never seen one before.
Laurence Strong Posted November 14, 2007 Posted November 14, 2007 I believe it's a "Divers" badge, however I can't find the reference at the momment.
Paul R Posted November 14, 2007 Posted November 14, 2007 I think I remember seeing it listed as a diver's badge as well.
webr55 Posted November 14, 2007 Posted November 14, 2007 (edited) Kampfabzeichen der Kleinkampfmittel 7th grade (if gold), or 5th grade (if bronze). I have seen only the M1957 versions. Edited November 14, 2007 by webr55
joetauchretter Posted November 14, 2007 Posted November 14, 2007 Hello , This is the 1957 version of the Kampfabzeichen der Kleinkampfmittel . You see these all the time on ebay and even some books on German WWII medals but this is incorrect ! The original WWII version had smooth fins and the post war 1957 version has the ribbed fins . I believe anyone in the Kleinkampfverband could earn this award but as it came very late in the war and the loss rate was very high few were ever awarded .Best Regards, Joe
Troy Tempest Posted November 15, 2007 Author Posted November 15, 2007 Thank you Joe and all the others, again, I have learnt something new!
