BalkanCollector Posted November 26, 2019 Posted November 26, 2019 It's been almost twelve years since the last reply. I can hardly believe that there hasn't been any additions to this thread since then. I found interest in this medal lately and I would kindly ask members to contribute with images of their examples if possible.
BalkanCollector Posted December 2, 2019 Posted December 2, 2019 Thank you very much for sharing! Beautiful group!
BalkanCollector Posted December 6, 2019 Posted December 6, 2019 I've managed to get my own example of this medal. It belonged to Ilcho Gochev Tonev. I've also got a document from his unit 12th Infantry Balkan Regiment. The document states that Ilcho had participated in operations of 1st Bulgarian Army against Germany from November 21st 1944 until June 15th 1945.
Shots Dave Posted December 6, 2019 Posted December 6, 2019 Here is another medal but no document I am afraid ☹️
BalkanCollector Posted December 18, 2019 Posted December 18, 2019 This time only document to I.R.(born 1920), Major of the Yugoslav Army who was commander of battalion in 3rd Lika Proletarian Shock Brigade of the 6th Lika Proletarian Division during WW2. As a commander he was wounded in both legs during combat near Požega, Serbia in 1944 after which he was sent to Italy for medical treatment. He wrote that the commander of Division and a People's Hero of Yugoslavia Đoko Jovanić, visited him and other wounded before they were sent to Italy.
