I'm sure those more knowledgeable than I will say the more expensive of the two has a seldom-encountered attachment setup. Not a price I would pay, but I could imagine others who might (and apparantly did) to fill an elusive hole in their collection.

Makes one wonder doesn't it :speechless:

As far as the second one going that low ... he only took Bank Transfer ...

That may not appear to be a big deal ... but it turns quite a few folks off that they cannot pay via PayPal.

That would be my guess as well. When you gotta have it . . . you gotta have it.

The 2nd one was listed as a copy, but from the little picture it could also be a "Deumer"....The first one-what do you expect? This one with the slide attachment is a kind of fashion!

Rare, but not so rare that I would pay this price! And don't forget(for all who are watching Ebay.de......There are 3 guys with really big money-axhedge(from Britain),Chinook(a Doctor from Hamburg) and Funkjoker(the winner)! All of them overpay all the time, some of them sometimes really didn't know what they've bought! So no chance for me(Im still looking for this variation)-but hey-I got my Werner screwback for less than the half....

Did one of these three bought that fancy cased enamel cross that sold for 3K+ USD about two months ago?

I remember that one. Imo that case was not period (the insert did not fit properly) and that seller has had some "questionable" items imo (which apparently don't get questioned enough!).

Like everyone else, I was watching the KMSt - a very nice example. I've seen one sell for US$1000 before (several years ago) but I'm not surprised to see one sell for over US$2000 today. Unlike 1939 L/12 EK1s, these KMSt's are truly rare.

Micha, you have a point on the second one, but a pic of the reverse would have been needed. A couple of the current good repros do look good from the front and this could be one of them.

Mike,I wouldn't spend a single Euro without a picture of the reverse! The KMST was a killer, but totally overpriced......but it doesn't hurt so much-there's a nice and rare KMST screwback on the way to me :jumping: A real screwback, not one of this fantastic "Frankensteine) we all love....

Which type? Actual screwback or one of the round plate types with "clip" or "twist" mechanism?

    Can't wait for the pics!

People never cease to amaze me when it comes to what they are really willing to pay for something that they really, really want. Including yours truly sometimes :speechless::speechless: . It's crazy, but certain collector's have certain holes they are trying to fill in a collection, and if they have the funds, they will pay. :banger::banger:
