Richard Gordon Posted February 10, 2008 Posted February 10, 2008 These ended within hours of each other. The highest I've ever seen for a 1914 EK1:http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...A:IT&ih=013Boy he wanted that badly! And the lowest I've seen:http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...A:IT&ih=018The two extremes!Rich
Scott Posted February 10, 2008 Posted February 10, 2008 I'm sure those more knowledgeable than I will say the more expensive of the two has a seldom-encountered attachment setup. Not a price I would pay, but I could imagine others who might (and apparantly did) to fill an elusive hole in their collection.
Guest Darrell Posted February 10, 2008 Posted February 10, 2008 Makes one wonder doesn't it As far as the second one going that low ... he only took Bank Transfer ... That may not appear to be a big deal ... but it turns quite a few folks off that they cannot pay via PayPal.

When you gotta have it . . . you gotta have it.
Chris Boonzaier Posted February 11, 2008 Posted February 11, 2008 2nd one is listed as a copy in the description.... 1st one knocked me off my feet !!!!
Motorhead Posted February 11, 2008 Posted February 11, 2008 The 2nd one was listed as a copy, but from the little picture it could also be a "Deumer"....The first one-what do you expect? This one with the slide attachment is a kind of fashion!Rare, but not so rare that I would pay this price! And don't forget(for all who are watching Ebay.de......There are 3 guys with really big money-axhedge(from Britain),Chinook(a Doctor from Hamburg) and Funkjoker(the winner)! All of them overpay all the time, some of them sometimes really didn't know what they've bought! So no chance for me(Im still looking for this variation)-but hey-I got my Werner screwback for less than the half....Micha

Mike K Posted February 12, 2008 Posted February 12, 2008 Did one of these three bought that fancy cased enamel cross that sold for 3K+ USD about two months ago?I remember that one. Imo that case was not period (the insert did not fit properly) and that seller has had some "questionable" items imo (which apparently don't get questioned enough!).Like everyone else, I was watching the KMSt - a very nice example. I've seen one sell for US$1000 before (several years ago) but I'm not surprised to see one sell for over US$2000 today. Unlike 1939 L/12 EK1s, these KMSt's are truly rare.Micha, you have a point on the second one, but a pic of the reverse would have been needed. A couple of the current good repros do look good from the front and this could be one of them.RegardsMike
Motorhead Posted February 12, 2008 Posted February 12, 2008 Mike,I wouldn't spend a single Euro without a picture of the reverse! The KMST was a killer, but totally overpriced......but it doesn't hurt so much-there's a nice and rare KMST screwback on the way to me A real screwback, not one of this fantastic "Frankensteine) we all love....Micha

Actual screwback or one of the round plate types with "clip" or "twist" mechanism? Can't wait for the pics!RegardsMike
Steve campbell Posted February 12, 2008 Posted February 12, 2008 That's alot of cheddar! No doubt a nice piece, but I don't see how I could enjoy it after my family had me taken away in a white truck to the local nuthouse for spending that much.
ekhunter Posted February 12, 2008 Posted February 12, 2008 People never cease to amaze me when it comes to what they are really willing to pay for something that they really, really want. Including yours truly sometimes . It's crazy, but certain collector's have certain holes they are trying to fill in a collection, and if they have the funds, they will pay.
