Wild Card
Gentlemen,Thank you all for your contributions to this thread. As I said in my introduction, it is my hope that we will gather enough material to establish a database which could be an aid in identifying the characteristics of the various makers.I would like to encourage you to continue to submit additional material even if you think that it might be a duplication; you never know, there might be that one little detail that is different. At the same time, duplications tend to confirm what is already seen.To make searches easier, I have prepared the following index which should make locating examples of each maker easier. Note that the numbers to the far right in bold face refer to the corresponding post #. Thank you again - Medal Bar Acker, H. Stuttgart, K?nigsbau 29Medal Bar Banse, Otto Berlin. Guest Rick Research
That is a GREAT idea-- makes FINDING makers "searchable." The Berlin city directory onlinehttp://adressbuch.zlb.de/makes tracking down the specific years street address changes took place, possible. Les
That is a GREAT idea-- makes FINDING makers "searchable." The Berlin city directory onlinehttp://adressbuch.zlb.de/makes tracking down the specific years street address changes took place, possible.Rick, THANK YOU ! That made my day. Prior to now I was using a printed and very detailed modern Berlin street map (then shifted to Google earth), and an old Imperial map, and had to compare the two to tie the old/new together for addresses. Could you post some sort of comparison shot (e.g fullsized 1897)? It was hard making out the size by the description.
