Karsten S Posted July 10, 2008 Posted July 10, 2008 Hej ArneVery nice J1 pilot badge in a fine condition.Congrats with the addition. Karsten
Karsten S Posted July 11, 2008 Posted July 11, 2008 Nice J1. Has the catch been replaced or re-attached?I was thinking the same thing. I noticed the the spot on the front, which look like tin or lead?Is it repaired? Karsten
Jan Arne S Posted July 12, 2008 Author Posted July 12, 2008 Hi Guys !Thanks !Will take some shots of the Catch . Dont looks like a repaire . Look like a small damage only on the front . Jan Arne
Karsten S Posted July 13, 2008 Posted July 13, 2008 (edited) Hi Jan ArneIs that a crater? From the images, it could look like a repair. A drilled hole all the way through to hold the catch in place and filled with tin.Can you tell if you look through a magnifying glass?RegardsKarsten Edited July 13, 2008 by Karsten S
ERIC Posted July 14, 2008 Posted July 14, 2008 I have to side with Karsten on this Jan - it does LOOK like a repair. No matter really, it was a superbly done job by whomever took on the task - a great piece nonetheless! ERIC
J Temple-West Posted July 14, 2008 Posted July 14, 2008 In fact I'd say the catch has been repaired a couple of times. The first (field) repair having a hole drilled through the wreath to house what I suspect to have been a "?" style catch....The second "C" style catch replacement being expertly done by the likes of a jeweller.Repairs aside? A very nice example.
Karsten S Posted July 14, 2008 Posted July 14, 2008 Repairs aside? A very nice example. Agree, and I would not mind being the owner of it. Karsten
Luftwaffe Rules Posted July 15, 2008 Posted July 15, 2008 What a beautiful piece!! Truly a great acquisition!! All the best, Jonathan
