Noor Posted July 22, 2008 Posted July 22, 2008 Hi,Today I got from another forum member a Soviet Order of Friendship. I am pretty sure its fake and I got this as a fake but still, question remains, is it original or not, because old owner wasn't 100% sure.If its fake then I am seriously worried, because it can fool lots of people!

Ed_Haynes Posted July 22, 2008 Posted July 22, 2008 Ah . . . that is why we have seen it? Maybe the careful engraving of "FAKE" (somewhere, I have the best Russian equivalent, which I HAVE used) on the reverse would help out future generations?
Lapa Posted July 22, 2008 Posted July 22, 2008 (edited) Ah . . . that is why we have seen it?...If you compare carefully both orders, you will see some specific markers that exist on the real thing and are missing or differ on the fake one....Maybe the careful engraving of "FAKE" (somewhere, I have the best Russian equivalent, which I HAVE used) on the reverse would help out future generations? The word "Муляж" would do nicely the trick.Marc Edited July 22, 2008 by Lapa
Ed_Haynes Posted July 22, 2008 Posted July 22, 2008 The word "Муляж" would do nicely the trick.MarcThat actually is the one I have used, much to the confusion of local engravers, Mark!
Hauptmann Posted July 22, 2008 Posted July 22, 2008 Hi all,Well, good to see confirmation, although she's a nice one. I'm the new owner (soon as it arrives in hand in about a week or thereabouts as I just worked a trade for several things with Noor today as well. I've wanted an OoF from day one, but sadly could never work one till it was too late and they went through the roof. I'll always be looking for a real one which I'd still much prefer at a reasonable price, but for now I'm very pleased with this one.And yes, I'll definitely strongly consider having that engraved on the award. What does it translate as exactly... fake or copy or replica or what? Very strange to have the original with that number and all the copies turn up with the same number. Fear not though... I plan to keep this one regardless and as I say will probably have that deeply engraved on the back and so solve the problem with this one at the very least. Dan
