Stogieman Posted October 27, 2005 Posted October 27, 2005 Hi Eric, welcome to the Forum! Your "Prussian" Fire Dept. Long Svc. Bar is actually Bavarian one and it is in the box for a pin of the Luisen-Bund, a Woman's Aid Organization.
Stogieman Posted October 27, 2005 Posted October 27, 2005 Slightly different view showing the Scharffenberg mark/stamp on the inner lid lining. Not only the only boxed one I've ever seen, the only miniature bar I ever saw from Saxony!
Tom Y Posted October 28, 2005 Posted October 28, 2005 Here's my only LS doc, from 1881. I was surprised that it was hand written. Hardly the sort of thing that would be issued im Feld.
Stogieman Posted October 28, 2005 Posted October 28, 2005 Hey Tom, very cool!! Oldest one I saw was to a winner of the 1813 EK2. he glued his bar to the document! Complete set, including the 1813 EK2 document!!!
Bob Hunter Posted November 3, 2005 Author Posted November 3, 2005 Tom, I apologize for the delay. Here is the reverse of my Wurttemburg schnalle.
Bob Hunter Posted November 3, 2005 Author Posted November 3, 2005 and while I was at it I found two more. This one is a Baden 9 year, I believe.
Bob Hunter Posted November 3, 2005 Author Posted November 3, 2005 This one is a recent addition from Tony. A Prussian Landwehr but I don't know what period of service it represents. Maybe Tony can help me out.
Stogieman Posted November 3, 2005 Posted November 3, 2005 Nice stuff, anybody have a Mecklenburg one?

David Gregory Posted November 4, 2005 Posted November 4, 2005 (edited) This one is a recent addition from Tony. A Prussian Landwehr but I don't know what period of service it represents. Maybe Tony can help me out.Bob,I think this is one (probably the second) of two types of Prussian 3rd class award issued between 1825 and 1913 for 9 years of service in the regular army. The Landwehr version is similar, but not the same.Like the second (silver for 12 years) and third (gold for 15 years) classes, this style of award was replaced by the round medals (9 and 12 years service) and crosses (15 years service) that are more commonly seen on medal bars from 1913 until 1920.Christian shows the second class award in post #4 and Tom shows all three classes in post #7 together with a Landwehr award (centre right).David Edited November 4, 2005 by David Gregory
Wild Card Posted November 4, 2005 Posted November 4, 2005 And, of course, VI (post #39) + VI (post #40) =
Wild Card Posted November 4, 2005 Posted November 4, 2005 Nice stuff, anybody have a Mecklenburg one?Don't know if this one counts, or not. It's the best I can do.

Bob Hunter Posted November 5, 2005 Author Posted November 5, 2005 ...and those old Wurttemburgers are totally cool!
