duarte1223 Posted February 8, 2006 Posted February 8, 2006 As requested, a shot of the back of the collar tab.
Paul R Posted February 8, 2006 Author Posted February 8, 2006 Thank you! It is nice to see how these tabs are put together!! Does the colored fabric seem glued to the tab or is it simply wrapped around the stiffener?
duarte1223 Posted February 9, 2006 Posted February 9, 2006 It seems like it is glued down, but it's very dry, and I'm afraid to pull too hard.Adam
Gary B Posted February 9, 2006 Posted February 9, 2006 I see Paul is trying to prevent me from buying an old tab and pulling it apart Gary B
michaelh Posted February 9, 2006 Posted February 9, 2006 Hello,Great thread on collar tabs. I've got a nice reference site on general officer and field marshal insignia with some examples shown at; www.themarshalsbaton.comI'm looking for pictures of a few ranks that I'm missing, if any Luft collectors out there have examples to share.Mike

Dave B Posted February 22, 2006 Posted February 22, 2006 Thanks chaps I've just treated myself to a new camera,it's a Fuji FinePix S5600 5.1megapixels.It's far from top of the range but it has a host of features and I find it takes superb photos!Dave
Paul R Posted March 24, 2006 Author Posted March 24, 2006 You are right... i have not seen such sharp images! Here are a few new tabs that I have added to my collection. The first is a nice set of Flight pipped ObLt, still bound together.
Paul R Posted March 24, 2006 Author Posted March 24, 2006 Next is a matched later war set belonging to a flak major.
Paul R Posted March 24, 2006 Author Posted March 24, 2006 My newst find... a set of Luftwaffe Field Division Officer candidate tabs. These are also unissued and bound together.
Gary B Posted March 25, 2006 Posted March 25, 2006 Hmmmm, Paul has been quietly adding to his collection! Good job.Why do you state that the flak tabs are late war? because they dont use buckram?? I like the Field div tabs. I have seen the same kind of tabs with a blue waffenfarbe but was told by GP that they were unidentified NSFK.Gary B

It would make sense! As far as the FD tabs, I found a set just like them in Vol 2 of Angolia's, "Uniforms and Traditions of the Luftwaffe". Page 255. The only difference is that the tabs are waffenfarbed for the HG division. Other than the waffenfarbe, the construction, gulls, and piping are identical. What are your thoughts?RegardsPaul
